The factor thermo reactor is dead on the 1977 308 GTB. Desired stainless performance (muffler) non cat, non thermo! Historic plates. Best bang for the buck, with direct replacement, non drama install. Did search, but no clear winner. Gotta have the stainless due to salt in air. Please help me decide Cheers, John.

I put Magnaflows on 2 carb 308s, 2 Qv's and one 328. Local shop did the work, and less than $600 parts and labor.

The very first thing I did when I got home with my 77 was to get rid of the reactor and have a local muffler shop weld in a Flowmaster with a pair of twin resonator tips. Looks good but is a bit loud for trips - my wife wears ear plugs.

Particularly with the sound deadening out of the air cleaner and the passenger window down.

    Cost was about $650

It seems most aftermarket muffler set ups are louder than stock, so you should, ideally, listen to a similar car with the proposed set up. Get a ride in it, particularly at cruise on the freeway and being driven hard.

I am happy with the sound but I have to be a bit carefull going through town.

    hth,
    chris

Keep the info flowing. Really need a bolt on thermo replacement Assembled systems tend to be too loud getting the wrong type of attention. Cheers, John

    Hi JMGTB,
Did you ever make a choice? I'm looking to do the same for my 76 308 GT4. Wondering what you finally decided.
    Thanks,
    RH

I am having a Nouvalari put on mine. I pick it up Friday will let you know. Would be nice to keep the original with the plugged ends and turned down tips :(

But will it ever look as amazing or sound as sweet??? Nothing ever really beats what Enzo origanally created. It's a rolling master piece.

I replaced the thermoreactor muffler on my GT4 with dual stainless Magnaflows with resonator dual tips. It cost a little under $1000 at a local muffler shop. Yes, the thermoreactor is heavy. I didn't weigh it, but I wouldn't dispute 88lbs. at all. Be careful removing it because you don't want that thing falling on you and killing you. The Magnaflows were definitely louder than stock. Too loud? That's a matter of opinion, but I thought they were ok. I don't think it was any louder in the cabin but it was louder outside for sure. Did it sound better? Oh, yes! I wound up selling the car shortly after this was installed so I didn't get to enjoy it nearly long enough. Will I do it again on the GTS? Not immediately, but I think I will if there is room with the '83's dual cats.

I got the Nouvolari on my 75 308GT4. Sounds great!

If you do a search, I have a thread on it.

ANSA is a bolt on, Mille Miglia out of OZ gets high marks for fitment, slightly larger tip OD.

Looks like you got it sorted.

There is one major problem going with probably any brand of exhaust, as it has happened with my Nouvalari. The original turned down tips prevent the smoke and oil from curling back onto the end of the car, with this new system the back of my car looks like sin. No my car does not burn any extra oil or smoke excessively.
