As the title suggests, just wondering what is the best way to check the oil. In my old 550, I used to get her really, really hot, in fact as hot as possible and then jump out and check the oil immediately.

Is this the best way for the 348 too?

    Thanks

    Hi,

I always check the oil with the engine running after its up to normal temp, some on here have checked with the engine off and found no difference!!

Just remember to use an oven glove or rag to unscrew the dipstick from the oil tank, it gets very hot!!

    Regards,
    Phil.

After I go for a run, car is usually at operating temp. When I park the car back in the garage after the run, I pop the engine cover, shut off the engine and then check the engine oil level. :):)
