Hi Guys I want to do my own leakdown test at home, so am just enquiring as to the best way to manually rotate the engine to get TDC? I don't want to use the starter and would prefer to do it by hand so I don't need to mess with disabling the fuel pump/injectors etc... What's the best method? Pull all the plugs, put it in a high gear and rotate the rear wheels? Can the crank be turned underneath the car (is there enough clearance?) What have you guys done? I know I could just take it to the dealer, but where's the fun in that.
OK to do it when on stands (Can you turn just one wheel?).. Rolling the car around on the ground isn't really the best approach....
Also what's a good figure for compression and leak down numbers on a 355 engine? My understanding is that leakdown is a lot lower than regular cars due to a very small piston ring gap - is that right?
