Completely agree. The cars are safer than ever, I'm so sick of seeing these giant slabs of concrete runoff at the Tilke tracks.

    BRING BACK IMOLA!

Having been to Imola I would agree but it would take a lot to get that track up to modern F1. It really feels more like a gokart track than F1.

Regarding the runoff areas: I agree with you as I think driver errors should be punished but there are fans who prefer that they see a full field to the end of the race

For starters, can a mod fix the speeeling mistake in the thread title

    Since the beginning of time.

Drivers who say they like it, most likely only said that while getting interviewed in Hungary or did very well on race day. When do drivers or anybody for that matter talk about Hungaroring in general?

The F1 yearly surveys that even the FIA don't bother reading, has Hungary that comes last or near last and for good reason. There is nothing really interesting about the Hungaroring.

Only a handful of races have ever been interesting.

Remember when Damon Hill almost won in the Arrows? no of course not we all fell asleep

Even the Hungary website makes fun of itself
    http://hungaroring.hu/?id=0&sub_id=4&lang=en

    lol

Driving this circuit on video games there is nothing interesting about the track. Maybe corner 5/6,

Is this thread about the best & worst spectator circuits? Because some of the Tilke circuits tho boring to follow are actually amazing spectator circuits.

Monza isn't spectator friendly but it's still the best GP I have been too and its definitely one of the best circuits on the calendar.

My other favourites are Montreal, Spa, Japan, Brazil and Monaco. Even tho Monaco is hard to pass it still has interesting corners. Seeing Mansell trying to pass Senna I remember like it was yesterday, I was on the edge of my seat. Monaco does that, Hungaroring doesn't.

Spa funny enough gets the least amount of spectators visitors for any circuit on the calendar so "spectators" doesn't equal a good track.

Other circuits I'm not a fan of based on racing via video games and watching on TV are Bahrain, China, Malaysia, Abu Dhabi and Sinagapore.

    Exactly right :)

Anthony Davidson talked to one of the engineers that works for Tilke during a practice session and he went into details about what they can and can't do. There hands are tied.

We should be blaming Max Mosley it was during his reign as President that the regulations were changed. I'm sure Tilke given the freedom to do anything he wants could produce amazing circuits.

Bernie is also a culprit here, as we know he decides which tracks come and go and Tilke has mentioned in previous interviews that Bernie has a big hand in the design of the circuits.

Run off areas are a safety feature that the drivers want so I don't see this changing to make fans happy.

    Link(s)?

Not arguing, I just don't recall anything along those lines...... We know Bernie has his hands in many pies, but circuit layout?

    +1

It's a pity that they don't really allow them to race in these conditions nowdays.

Weather wise, it's been topsy turvy in Malaysia this past few months. I always hope for a dry race at the start of the Malaysian GP, then rain say 20 laps into the race :)

True, but it may have been easier had they not neutered it following Senna's accident.

I agree. Actually i don't think the corner had anything to do with the accident. More like the safety aspects in terms of proper runoff areas, tyre walls, etc.

The river flowing through town makes it impossible to enlarge the run off area where Senna crashed. That's why he had a bad chance the moment he left the track.

    Fave !
1 Brands Hatch -original long circuit
2 Spa- old Long or current layout brilliant !
    3 Suzuka - hold on through 130R

    worst !

1 Las Vegas--Really a parking lot and desert ! what where they thinking
2 Avus--makes nascar look interesting..very fast all the same
    3 Barain..again a desert and a parking lot.

I love all the hate for Hungry and passion for Monaco ! they are the same track without the houses/ocean/walls !.
I asked F1 insider years ago about Monaco and he told me "if it wasn't for the sun and the tax haven,we wouldn't be here and Monaco would just be another dirty little fishing town, but until that changes, we will keep coming to one of the worst and most dangerous places to race an F1 car"

But that's missing the point. It is the close proximity of the houses and walls that makes Monaco interesting and it is also what means the spectators get an unparalleled close up view of the drivers and cars in action. If the circuit was in a big field and the spectators half a mile away then it would be very tedious indeed. But fortunately that isn't the case.

It IS an awesome track (with or without chicanes). I think it would be a very interesting F1 circuit, especially at Mulsanne after all of the slip stream catching up on the straight.

    My favs:

    1) Spa (EAU ROUGE!)
    2) Suzuka
    3) Monza

The ones that I would be happy if they were gone:

    1) Bahrain
    2) Valencia
    3) China
