any tips on getting out? my buddies and i have no problem staying all-night but its tough to find out some info...

one car or two? It would be nice if all 4 of us didn't have to cram into one car for an evening!

what is that actual price for non-residents? and on that note is it worth the price of admission? (i'd venture to say yes, but who knows...)

i guess there aren't that many golfers here...

I've read all there is to read and a lot of it is conflicting, ie greens fees between 60 and 120...

I'm looking for some personal experiences of actually playing...

I think you might have been better off actually stating that it was a post about golf. In all fairness you original post wasnt that clear.

    Black Course

The Black Course is a difficult and challenging course that should be played only by low-handicap golfers. The course is for walkers only and its slope rating is one of the highest in the northeast. This was one of the last courses designed by master golf course architect A.W. Tillinghast, and is said by many to be his finest work. The Black Course served as the site of the 102nd U.S. Open Championship in 2002. Our National Championship will again return to the Black in 2009. The narrow fairways, high roughs, well placed bunkers and small greens help to make this an extremely difficult course.

The Black Course is closed Mondays for course maintenance except holidays.

    Course Rates:
    Reservation Fee $4
    Weekday Fee (18 Holes) Residents:$50.00
    Non-Residents: $120.00
Weekend Fee (18 Holes) Residents: $100.00
    Non-Residents: $120.00
    Course Information:
    Regulation
    Par 71
    Slope 140
    Rating 73.1
    Yardage 6684
    Championship
    Par 71

i played there back in 2001 before the open and thats when it was really hard to get on and you had to sleep in your car in the parking lot to try to get on. i remember you werent even allowed out of your car that early in the morning and you had to sit in your car in the numbered spots.

its not like that anymore and you can make a tee time for the black course. if youre a nys resident with some sort of state issued ID its even easier, i think you can make times like 7 days in advance, out of staters i think like 48 hours before but by then tee times are all gone.

if i recall from the last time i played there they block off the first few times of each hour for walk ons/people who wait in their cars or something like that. if youre a single, you can usually walk on no problem.

if i was you i would try and play there sooner than later as the open is returning in 2009 so its going to get more packed as the open approaches.
