None of these cars will have classic status as compared to the Daytonas, 330s, 275s, 250s, etc.; there were simply too many produced.

One can only imagine how well the Manettino on the F430 will work in 2040... ;)

Maybe world population will grow sufficiently to fix the supply/demand difference? :p

The world will also run out of oil by then...thus making classic cars useless aside from objects of art...just sitting collecting dust...not even drivable. Such a shame when that day will come. :(

I was thinking about that too. Once alternative technologies outgun the fuel combustion engine for performance, these cars will all be like Stanley Steamers (the steam-powered vehicle, not the carpet cleaning outfit...)

Maybe, but there are a bunch of rarer cars ahead of the 360/430/575 that will reach classic status first. Dino 206/246 are already there. Now think 512BB/i. The 308/328 are arguably borderline classics now, and the TR will be next. There was another thread on this, but I'd say the 308/328/TR group has about 10 years before everyone agrees they're collectible.

I also agree with the point made often on this board about the electronics in these cars, all of which will be obsolete, expensive to repair, and prone to failure over the long term. No one is going to think a 2005 nav system is anything but a p.i.t.a. in 2020, just as the first-generation ABS is crap, and first-generation airbags are more dangerous than they are 'smart'.

I think they'll all be "classic". 328's and Alfa Spiders are "classic" . However since theirs a large number of these that were made there just not highly valuable classic. Every well liked older car will become a classic, but not all of them will be valuable in the future.
