    I'm not sure if this has been posted yet, if so,then please disregard.


    As all of you are aware of, the economy has seen better days. The "impending doom" that I refer to in the thread title has to do with being aware of your surroundings and the attitude of the "joe six pack" as Palin would say. I've seen more than a few threads talking about keying cars and other things that are probably worse. This will likely continue for some time. Except that it may become worse due to the attitude of the average guy and "class warfare" run amock. Please watch yourselves and be careful where you're driving your Ferraris, it may come to pass that someone wishes you grave bodily injury due to your choice of automobile. The more hysteria that floats in the jetsam of media flamboyance, the more the "average guy" becomes angry and even violent toward the guy who is successful and enjoys nice tings...like Ferraris.

    I'm not trying to be over the top or anything, just trying to help fellow F chatters avoid big trouble.

    That's true, you will see more and more hostility from the guy that's being squeezed. This kind of thing has been happening in the UK for some time where the disparity causes some to vent on those who own nice things and aren't too careful with it.(basing this on numerous stories I've read on the boards)

    Good point about the UK.

    I lived in London for half a year after college. This was during the Thatcher administration, when unemployment was at a very high level. It recall that it was unusual to see a Rolls Royce that hadn't been vandalized.

    Earlier I may have parked in the back of a mall lot on a brief run to Macy's or something.
    From this week on I will only park Valet (up front of course, never letting the valet get into or, heaven forbid, drive my car).

    Re: obscene gestures, it is hilarious when the gesture is received from someone driving a car clearly more expensive than yours ;-)

    Had not really thought about it like that, but it makes sense. I for one will be taking extra care when driving my 328, even thou it costs many other cars on the road. Most people just see Ferrari an d assume that it cost $100,000 or more. Its sad to think that this is what the world has become, when someone can't enjoy his own stuff in peace. For what its worth, I was born on the ides of march.

    Yeah good point about the UK, 6 whole months in one city in the UK is surely enough time to know exactly what happens in the entire country, and it's really not changed at all in the 18 years or so since Thatcher was in power *Sigh*.... Jeez maybe think a bit more before posting a ridiculous generalisation like this!!!

    I've seen several news stories about deliberate vandalism of foreclosed homes by the soon-to-be ex-owners. The houses looked like a heard of bulls had been running loose inside them. Joe Sixpack's scortched earth policy. If I can't have it then nobody can.
