Oh man, that sucks. Had a similar experience years ago (not Proflowers.com, a software subscription) and wound up having to get my cc issuer to close that account, reverse the charges and send me a new card/account number as I was getting nowhere with the software company.
Ordered a year's delivery for my wife for 2 years running; never had a problem with them. But I cancelled on moral grounds: I realized how much cO2 trucking flowers across the US puts into the air. BTW... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Viola
They have a great future ahead of them http://www.google.com/#hl=en&q=proflowers.com+beware&fp=-dx2DTn7Pl4 It's a loooooooong list Image Unavailable, Please Login
Two year ago, I used Proflowers to get some flowers for my wife. I saw the free shipping offer, and I READ THE DISCLAIMER. I saw what it entailed. I opted to pay for shipping, and I was done. What ever happened to personal accountability? I understand feeling stupid seeing the charges, etc. I don't understand being angry at the company that told you what they were doing. Anybody ever read the fine print anymore? Especially when it involves money? I'd write it off as the cost of educating you to pay attention.
I have used them quite a few times with no problems. I did not get free shipping though so I may not have been part of the same thing you were.
I am positive I didn't opt for the free shipping offer. I paid the shipping and it is on the original invoice. This is a shady organization
It's always good to read the fine print; but why do business with businesses where the fine print shows a potential scam? There are still businesses that just deliver what they say, the fine print is limited and they don't affiliate with other businesses that create problems for their customer base. Life's too short.
It wasn't secretly approved- it is in their rules that you had to agree to in order to place your flower order. Should you have read it, you would have seen it. If you had opted to pay for the shipping instead of getting a freebie (which isn't free) you have nothing to worry about. Always read the terms.
True dat. I've used proflowers a few times, but always opted out of their freebies. The fine print, it is there about the charges or that you will be charged at random for someone else's crap. I'll give a +1 to use proflowers because I ran into an issue where a vase was not shipped and the greens in an arrangement was withered away. They offered to ship something at equal price for free between M-Th. Great stuff.
I've used proflowers about 10 times and never had any problem except overzealous email advertising, seems they think every day is a holiday of some sort. otherwise no complaints. but thanks for the heads up
Used Proflowers a bunch of times before, never a problem, but I hadn't used them recently, and I no longer will - I HATE companies that add little subscription programs to the small print and I will not do business with them. It's a crappy way to do business. If your product is worth it, show it off and be proud of it. Don't trick people into buying it and making it a hassle to cancel. Thanks for the heads up.
I actually did the same thing after placing three orders for Mother's Day this month. One of their hooks is the free shipping deal. A second one is to complete a survey after ordering for a rebate. The fine print in both authorize a recurring charge to the credit card you previously used for your proflowers purchase. I declined both, sucked it up, and payed the $13 per order shipping, and was good to go. I'll keep an eye on my credit card statement but I'm pretty sure they are simply capitalizing on people's too-quick-to-click response.
