is anyone into pre World War 1 Biedermeier furniture from Sweden. www.virtanen-antiques.com
there's a person in the club up here who likes collecting that stuff and the French antiques as well, what are you after ?
I love that stuff. Those guys were up here in Sydney recently for the Antique fair. Melissa has her eyes on a lounge suite they have for sale
No, it's a tad too decorative for me, the walnut though is stunning, are you into it? I collect Danish stuff from the 1950's and 1960's along with local offerings like Featherston and Fred Lowen. If you need any advice, PM me. BTW, another one you'll probably like is Krimper if you like BM. A little later in period but he made almost his entire range by hand. There is a magnificent chest of drawers in the Art Gallery of South Australia if you are ever over that way.....definitely a must see. (It sits in between a Snelling and a Featherston chair, a nice combo!) BTW, you are a real wanker, I saw your pic in the RROC magazine accepting your concour prize..........poof.... Regards, Carl.
Once did restoration on an estate with Biedermeier fixtures throughout, baths included. Mind you, the furniture wasn't part of the restoration process, nor should it be cheapened by doing so. Nevertheless, save for a slight waterstain on lower portion of one bath, all had somehow withstood the test of time, travel and taste. Beauty.
Funny Victorian Burr Walnut furniture is oh so cheap in price. What about a Eames chair? I've got a proper Le Corbusier ,chaise lounge. Are you into Eileen Gray furniture?
Well, that chaise is really nice, that's a good piece to have, though somewhat at odds with the BM your into! Yes, Eileen Gray is amazing, and receiving the recognition at last she never enjoyed whilst alive, amazing, not just furniture, but architecture and even rugs as well. I did a mid century modern achitecture crawl in the USA last Feb, I'll show you some of the pics if you like Neutra, Frey, Eames, Koenig, case study houses etc... I like Eames a lot, but I don't have any. I do have a nice Walter Knoll couch though. Regards, Carl.
