Last spring I was building a home for a customer in the big bend area of Texas. While sitting in a small Mexican restaurant in Terlingua’s ghost town I overheard some excited customers talking about Ferraris and Lamborghinis in the area and about some street race they had watched. I asked them for details and they gave me a local newspaper discussing the Big bend Open Road Race. Unfortunately I just missed it but was fortunate enough to see some grand cars after the race.

It seems once a year they close the desolate highway from Fort Stockton to Sanderson and have an open street race. Over the years it has grown and become a popular event attracting exotics and not so exotic from as far away as Las Vegas.

I hope I am not starting a thread that has already been discussed but has anyone here participated in the race? I plan to participate this spring and was curious about it. It looks like a lot of fun!

I found a website for information.

The second issue of Texas Driver Magazine had quite a bit of coverage (shameless self Premotion) but there were NO Ferrari's in the race but there was a Lamborghini and a Saleen S7, some panteras and a HOLEFRIGGINLOT of Corvettes.
