I was sent this scan of results for an April 1957 event at the Dillingham airstrip event on the North Shore.

Notice the well know drivers and cars: Chuck Daigh in the Troutman Barnes Special, Phil Hill in a Ferrari, Lou Brero in a D-Jag, John Von Neumann in a Ferrari, Jay Chamberlain in a Lotus, and E. Forbes-Robinson.

The first day was timed mile runs. The second day was race day. The 4th race included Lance Reventlow and Ken Miles in Porsche and the 6th race included Carroll Shelby in a Maserati.

Lou Brero was the man that was later killed in a crash and fire while driving a Maserati-Chevy at the same location.

The Troutman Barnes Special is owned by a Hawaii resident, although the car is kept on the mainland.

    Fascinating info.
It would probably be of interest in the Vintage forum.

    Hi Mark

Some time ago, I posted about another car that turned up in Hawaii in the Maserati section. The discussion turned to the Brero incident and his grandson chimed in. I have a friend that was at the track the day of the incident. The grandson was interested in talking to that person. I hope this information made it to the son.
