Hey John, My son lives 4 minutes from the track! Maybe you all could get together for a dig. Two shovels are always better than one. Just Sayin! Ciao, George
Sounds good. No sense being subtle about it. I’ll bring the backhoe, official-looking disguises, and keg. Before that over-the-top performance though, I have someone looking in to official access. Crossing fingers
Not sure if anyone else saw but I got an email this morning from Road Atlanta with the confirmed 2018 schedule. It shows Ferrari Challenge returning in September.
I received word that this is a closed event, open to participants only. the brand is only really exclusive if it operates on a basis of exclusivity. Would have loved to go watch the cars, one of my favorite days was watching the retired F1 cars in Homestead about 10 years ago.
Hey All: So I have checked with both National FCA and Ferrari North America. The Clienti and FXX days are strictly invite only. restricted to F-1 Clienti and FXX owners and their invited guests. So if you know an owner the best thing is to ask them for a pass. I think Jim P has done that - so hope he'll post some pics. FOA, has a limited number of invitations as does all NA dealers. those invites are for perspective / Potential Clienti / FXX buyers. Ferrari will vet the invitee to ensure they meet Ferrari's criteria, so its not really up to the dealer. This is a pure Ferrari deal. Its sad that they chose to do it this way, and not allow owners to attend at least one day.
Everyone would love to see these cars run, but this is a great way to keep the brand exclusive in my opinion.
If and when I get a pass, I expect to spend a full day at the track - whichever one has better weather - and post photos here. I happened to have met one of the owners at Watkins Glen back in 1998 and he let me sit in his 312 T5. He now owns an F2003-GA and a 599XX and expects to have them both at the track.
Called the track just now and spoke to a women about the event. She says it is open to the public with a $20 charge at the gate for admission.
Actually called back before I made the post on here to make sure we didn’t confuse the dates for the event.
If this is true I will be very very surprised. I believe you when you say she told you this but I can't help feeling she is just mistaken.
I put a post on facebook asking if anyone could confirm if its open or private. My other question would be why pick Road Atlanta as a test track? I have nothing RATL, I love it and its a wonderful facility. But COTA or another newer track would seem like a better fit. Just my thought.
According to the factory, there is no open admission. If it were me, I might still try and see what happens but.....
I just think the lady answering the phone is unaware of exactly what this event is and is speaking in general terms about admission for the track. There is just no way she knows something the factory doesn't.
This has to be a true Ferrari event because its a total fire drill....... I got this from Road Atlanta Today. I'd say to those who want to go - show up and see what happens.
