Big problem with Beverly Hills Classic Cars

    Hi all. Has anyone out there had any problems in their business dealings with Andy Cohen over at Beverly Hills Classic Cars (310-360-6900)??

    In a nutshell, I purchased a 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi with 10,773 miles from Mr. Cohen’s business on 5/11/06.

    The selling price included all books, tools, previous service records, and enclosed shipping to my residence.

    The selling price also included four BRAND NEW Michelin TRX original size tires.

    All of this was written (exactly as stated above) on the original Bill of Sale contract, signed by myself and Mr. Cohen.

    Unfortunately, the car was delivered to me WITHOUT the new tires installed. Mr. Cohen said he was unable to locate the new tires before delivery to me and he promised me that if I bought the new tires myself that he would reimburse me for the full cost. (I purchased the Michelin TRX tires from Longstone Tyres in the U.K. on 6/6/06 for a total cost of $ 1829.65).

    Since then, after numerous phones calls and promises from Mr. Cohen that he would send me a check to reimburse my expenses for the new tires (as per our contract), I have not heard from him and he has not returned my calls.

    I will be pursuing legal action shortly, but does anyone else have any other suggestions?

    Until this matter is resolved, I would advise anyone that is considering purchasing a car from Mr. Cohen’s business to proceed with great caution – he is NOT a man of his word, does NOT honor contractual agreements, and ignores his customers after the sale is completed.

    Sorry to hear about this. I think there's been a mixture of positive and negative posts about Andy Cohen here.

    I had a similar issue with a different dealer, Michael Willhoit, when I bought a Porsche from him - damaged wheel, he 'overlooked it', I had it fixed, sent him the bill, never heard from him again. I will never again accept a car until everything's done right, just as a general rule.

    I'm not sure if it's just a done-and-forgotten attitude or up-front lying, but either way I'd advise people here not to assume a dealer is going to send you a check later for something that isn't right.

    i've heard rumblings for a long time (all negative) about this group of people
    from several sources

    stay clear, they're not very honest (if at all)

    Sorry you are having trouble with the dealership Rod.

    Despite that, how is the car? Can you post the VIN, color, etc, so it can be added to the master list? Would love to see some photos, also.

    The best advice I can give is if your gonna go Legal STOP committing anything to text in a public forum NOW.

    Also threatening to take action and not planning on doing anything is a bad idea. The best thing for you is for the dealer to have no idea and get served papers one sunny afternoon. If he knows it's coming, it doesn't pack as much of a punch.

    "can't find them" isn't valid.....vendors of these tires are well known to this community.......bummer.

    Thanks Ron,

    The car thankfully is in excellent shape. It's currently undergoing a full engine out major service. The car is already on the master list. Here some photos of the car and the engine being serviced.

    Are the suspension arms gold cad plate or just gold paint?
    I know many late Boxers are originally Gold Cad but most are restored in silver or aluminum plate . I just finished my '84 in gold color to match the original BBLM gold color .
    I did not like the original gold cad , looked too furniture like cheap plating so went with the dull powder coat gold.
    The reason i am asking because not too many boxers have the original coating and over time the color wears off and turns the natural steel - silver color.

    Mine are gold cad, tired but gold none the less and Ill be replating them due to my anal nature.

    I remember when Andy had that car. Very nice. Congrats. From what I have heard he is a stand up guy.
