Well,my Baby goes in to Continental tommorrow for her 30K.Then,she'll be all ready for the rest of the Driving Season. And have a head start for next Season.

Weather Reports so far indicate a Dry Winter. And,these Cars just LOVE that Ice Cold Air. So,I wanna be able to take her for a spin on a nice,Cold,Sunny Day occassionally.

Hmmmm....think that they'll let me use an Enzo for a Loaner...?...:)

Ask them to take pictures of the engine while disassembled. Those make for unique shots in your scrap book.

I just got back from dropping off my Baby..... But,I know that she is in VERY Capable Hands....:) Should have her back in a week or so.

But,if anyone has not been to Continental Autosports since they finished their ReModel. You MUST stop over and check it out. Fabulous! VERY Nice!

And,what a huge selection of Cars! New and Pre Owned. In the Pre owned section,. They just got in a Silver/Black 365GTS Daytona Spider. Not sure as to why someone would let a car like that go......Also,lots of everything. A few 430's. Including a Red/Tan Spider....OoooooAhhhhhh!

And in the Shop was a 333sp. 166MM?. 365 Boxer. Just to name a few.

    Frank,
Do they have a Red/Tan F430 coupe in stock(6 spd)? I was at LFSC on Sat and they had o a yellow one but I don't think it was for sale. Are they still getting $50,000 over sticker on those things?

I have a friend looking that is why I am asking.

    Thanks.

Does the door ding qualify as nit picky things?

Remember you have one of the most beautiful 308 GTSi around, which won you 2nd behind Dave's Boxer last year, so it deserves to be manicured.

Yes,that, and a few other Dings will get Repaired come Winter time. I'm just having them do all of the Mechanical things now. I suppose that I'll take the car over to "Custom Cars" in LaGrange in the Winter time. I believe that is who Continental uses for Paint and Body work. I'll ask them again, though

Another thing that I am struggling with...My Car needs to have the Tires Replaced. I am trying to decide whether to get some bigger Ferrari rims, and Tires. Which ones will work? I only want to go no bigger than a 17" Rim. But,maybe a tad Wider....Or,Bigger After Market Rims and Tires. Or just keep it Bone Stock, like it is, and get some New Tires. Then,it's a decison between some New TRX's,or something else....I may just write them all down on a piece of paper and pick 'em out of a Hat...:) But,am leaning towards Stock, since the whole Car is....

I wouldn't go anything bigger than a 16. Big wheels just don't cut it IMO on the early FCars.

I agree, I think in this case anything else would just make it look "off" and take away from the great looks the 308 naturally has.

LFSC has a ding guy... he is incredible. He (or she) took several dings out while she was being serviced. Call Continental and ask. LFSC's guy came to the dealer, did the work there. There is no reason he/she can't pull dings on a car sitting there without the engine in it.

    My QV has 16" rims
She, as of this spring, has Goodyear Eagle F1 GS D3's. Stock sizes .... if memory serves me (too much beer tonight....) 205/55/16 in front, 225/50/16 in rear. Lots of stuff here in the archives. Wider has its issues, and you do not track, so why bother? I've abused my 308 several times on the track with the new tires, and I love 'em. I got them from Tirerack.com, was very happy.

Thanks for the replies, everyone! Yes,I think that I will either keep the stock rims. Or,maybe go to a 16" Ferrari rim. Like that on a QV Car,or 328. I agree with you,Spike about the Good year Eagle F1's. I had those on several of my Corvettes and was really happy with them. But,if I want to keep it "Bone Stock",I will have to go with the TRX's. Decisions,Decisions.....

I did see some 17" Speedlines on a 308 once. They looked really good.

As far as the Dings go. It's a little more complicated than just popping out the 5 or 6 little dings that my car has. I also want to see if they can do anything with the few spots on my Car that have "Checked" alittle. Or,see if it is possible to lightly Wet Sand the whole Car to get all of the Swirls out. Then, shoot it with a few coats of Clearcoat to protect it. So,I don't want it to be rushed. Come Winter,I can just drop it off there and let them take their time.

My new wheels are 16". You should go at least with that. In hindsight I wish I had gotten 17", it looks so much better. www.garedcars.com has extremely cool rims.

How about spacers? My rears stick out from underneath the body and I love it, just like Jerry's dads 348 in Muskegon. Bada_ss all the way!

Yes,I definitely do like that look. Do you ever "Bottom Out" and scrape when you hit bumps,or are going fast?

I have seen some 360 Wheels with spacers on E-Bay that would fit. But,now we're getting into the "Bling Bling" Realm, that,IMO,has no business on a Ferrari....:)

Never bottomed out at all. Not an issue.

I think the 308 looks timeless in its shape and the age question is the one I get asked the most (almost every time) and people are stunned to hear the design and car is 20+ years old.

What dates the car designwise are the wheels. That's why I went with something more current and selected the 550 Maranello style wheels.

And remember: Changing wheels is a reversible modification. All you loose is money. Heck, keep the current tires on the current wheels and use that combo for concours.

Stay away from the bling!! Please!!

I don't want to hear about gold rims and pin stripes. Someone make sure that Frank does not turn to the dark side.

You can probably figure about $5k to $6k ish... Unless extra work is required, then it will be higher... But they are thourough. have them run a polution analysis on your car and get a print out. just incase you have to take it in for polution testing, then you know it will be ok...

Do you know who Scott/Gary assigned to your car to do the 30K ?

Thanks,Tod,for all of that info. No,I don't know who is doing my Car. But I have complete trust in anybody at that Shop. I was planning on stopping by there today, but got caught up in something else. So,I will on Monday.

Andreas. I LOVE your Wheels. If I were to change,I think that I would definitely stay with a Ferrari Wheel,or something that looks very similar. I actually did have some wheels in mind about a Year ago....until I saw the same ones on a Chrysler Mini-Van!...:( So,I figure if I stick with Ferrari Wheels,NO Chance that I'll ever see them on a Mini-Van...:)

I was talking about not putting on some Really gaudy,20" Chrome Wheels (I do like Chrome,though...but not super huge ones) or something like that. Like something seen on "Cribs" or "Rides".

Thought about any upgrades for the 308?
I have a mag, maybe an older Forza, with a list of stuff you can do to upgrade the 308's HP.
I'm not due for another 4 years, but I've thought about maybe upgrading a bit.

Thanks,Spike. Yes,I have thought about it. But,my Car is so Original. And pretty Clean. I'd just rather keep this one Bone Stock.

But,the thought has crossed my mind to get a GTB,(More Rigid) and take it down to Norwood in Texas for a Super Motor. Roll cage,. Big Brakes,Etc....For a really nice Street/Track Car. I know where there is a nice '77 Body, less Drivetrain, for like $8K. That would be a good candidate....:)

Hey,Rick! Nice to see you over at Continental today. Great minds think alike!...:) Hey,I just got my November issue of 'DuPont Registry of Fine Automobiles' in the mail today. They still have that '71 Gold Daytona out there in California. It would really make a nice set....that Gold Daytona with the Silver one at Continental.....:) (Saw another Silver one For Sale in DuPont, too. A '72)

They really did a nice job over there at Continental, with the new Remodel. It looks great! And,what an array of Cars there. I can't wait to get my Car back. I know that it is in good hands with Gary.
