No, I did not buy something new... but I did drive quite a long way on the tollway, and noticed that the "Rod Blago, Governor" signs atop the I-pass open tolling are GONE!!! Brought a big smile to my face.... then started (in by brain) singing Na Na-Na Na Na Na-Na Na hey hey hey good bye!
I had heard the crews were standing by waiting to hear if Blago got the boot. When he did, they immediately went to work to remove the signs. Cost was $15,000, but I figured there were about 30 signs so about $500 each which I think is cheap considering several people and equipment per sign.
I would have driven the 11 or so hours back with your choice of a can of spray paint & masking tape to block out the name or a full set of tools, climbing gear, and rigging to remove the signs completely for much less than $500 each. Heck, I would have flown out - still have a car to retrieve from Illinois one of these days.
