DEEP-FRIED RATTLESNAKE 1 medium-sized rattlesnake (3-4 lbs.), cut into steaks 1/2 cup flour 1/4 cup cornmeal 1/4 cup cracker crumbs 1/2 cup milk 1 egg 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (not garlic salt) 1 teaspoon salt dash pepper Mix dry ingredients. Whisk milk into beaten egg and use to dip snake steaks. Then coat them with dry ingredients. Fry, uncovered, in 400 degree oil until brown. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It's funny how fast and far this picture goes! Being a hunter and living in Texas I visit many Texas hunting forums. Would you hold a snake that can kill you close to your body....remember a rattlesnake CAN bite even after it's killed....no you wouldn't....either would this guy! That stick is pretty far away from him and makes the snake look that much bigger. Everyone I've talked to who is familiar with rattlers say it's more likely a 6 footer, MAYBE weighing in a 40#....TOPS! STILL A MONSTER SNAKE that I would never want to meet, but exagerated! J
Sorry man I hate re-posting sh*t! I assumed that this guy was this other person's friend. Oh well, big snake anyway.
That would have to be a pretty strong dude to hold out 97 pounds on a stick so far from his body. I agree, more like a 40 pounder.
No way it's even 40lbs, you stick a 5gal water jug on the end of a stick and see if you can hold it out like that..... if that snake was 20lbs I would be amazed.
As yet undetermined: http://www.snopes.com/photos/animals/txsnake.asp But one thing you have to realize is that the snake is much closer to the camera than the man in the photo.
why? have you sampled it? It does taste very similar to poultry and far better than some other small birds I have tryed. Bust out the bbq
6-6 1/2ft max. It prolly weighs in at about 15-20 lbs. It's an Eastern Diamondback Rattlesnake. Fire up the Q.
As a brave Texan that has been to the world famous Sweetwater Rattlesnake RoundUp, I can attest to the fact that rattlesnake tastes a bit like chicken only worse. I've tried it BBQ'd, fried, broiled with a light wine sauce, and even rattlesnake jerky. I had rather have a Sonic cheeseburger. As far as snipe, I find it tastes remarkably like fine veal. Which I assume is why everyone loves to hunt it. Granted, the snipe found in the grocery stores (in the Pinky-7 refridgerator case) is a poor representative. But a fresh snipe grilled on the left-handed smoke-shifter is truly a joy. UMMMM...UM!
Yall need to come down to our Annual Claxton Rattlesnake Roundup for the real thing. Damn, this southern huge snake fest is the best! Get your belts, boots, skins here. You aint had rattler till youve had it deep south fried w/ the proper fixins.
Yeah, it's a big ass poisonous snake w/ a strikingly beautiful hide. Tastes like chicken if you cant cook. But if you can, makes quite a delicate unique meal. Claxton Roundup is where I pick up the best.
