    I'll bite.......348 to 355

Ironic since the 348 is my target according to budget.

Actually, I think the 328 -> 348 was a gigantic leap. And that's exactly why so many people think the 348 is a P.O.S. First car with lots of ECU's, first car that most of us would consider "modern".

    Just my 2-cents.

I would say 412 - 456. Mechanically they might not be that different, but seem to be in completely different classes.
I also understand that the 348 was considered the first 'modern' Ferrari even though it used to be on this site as a 'Classic'. To me the 355 is more an evolution of the 348 than the 348 is as an evolution of the 328.

Agreed... A lot of firsts with the 348. The move from tube chassis and a more modern assembly process as well.

I love my 348...but the Mondial had far more, far earlier.

In the Mondial, you've got the Valero clutchless transmission (the forerunner of the 355's F1, electricly adjustable shocks, anti-lock brakes, 348's engine, the grates, more ECU's than the 348, power steering, etc.

The 348 had modern styling (still contemporary 15 years later) and the removable sub-frame.
