Biggest complaint about your 308/328/GT-4

That I can't afford one of each model and body style and induction type.

 

I wish I had bought a GTB, or held on to the one I had. Aside from that, no real complaints. I don't have unrealistic expectations from my 30 year old car.

 

I feel your pain.

 

For me, a bit of Stockholm Syndrome has taken hold; things I used to think were weird have become charming quirks. Probably the thing I most dislike about the 308 is that I can't stretch my (long) legs out like I can in other cars.

 

My 89 328GTS:

1. In parking lots/driveway I wish it had power steering!

2. I have taken it on several cross-country trips (USA), most recently last fall. When I'm putting 900-1000 mile days in the car, I wish it had cruise control

 

I fear a bird might hit my forehead when sitting straight up in the seat. I guess the car is too low ..

 

'85 308QV Euro.... Let's see...

- The parking brake varies between useless and "are you kidding me"? Yep, I've adjusted it more than once. It's just a crap design.
- Zero lumbar support in the driver's seat makes a 2 hr drive sort of painful.
- Even with a fully-functional AC unit, the vents and blower aren't sufficient to cool the interior
- 2-speaker stereo system doesn't sound great (and yes, I'd like to listen to music when I drive sometimes. Weird, I know.)
- Too many parts are NLA. Not just because it's old, as Porsche and Mercedes manage this situation far better
- Previous owners (of all cars) that took off some trim part and never reattached it
- Previous owners that kept the tools, jack, books, etc
- Some interior bits are too fragile (lights/signal stalk, for example)
- Incomplete and/or incorrect information in the Workshop Manual

 

Fluid leaks. And dont tell me that yours does not leak. It will soon.

Yep, that one occurred to me too. Takes far too much effort - even with diligence and correct assembly procedure - to keep everything from leaking ever.

 

Not being able to see when the sun is glaring into the windscreen.

 

She doesn't sing enough but with the tubi it's much better. The only modification she needs in my point of view

 

There was a time when the lack of power bothered me, and led to selling my GTBi and buying a 328. My greed for speed cost me a lot of money, and the end result was a car only marginally faster.

IMHO, there are far safer and affordable alternatives for going fast. That's why I feel fortunate to have a vette, too.

 

I would certainly like more horsepower.

I thought I wanted more horsepower, but it really was a V8 engine with a plumbers paradise of hoses and pipes.

 

These cars are great when you double the horsepower But the AC still sucks. Having owned this car for many years. I find it brings joy to most people who see it. It still brings me joy to drive it.
Things that bother me are bad engineering like AC, E-Brake as Thorn noted. I can deal with the rest.
