I just completed an overhaul of the rear shocks on my 456. Not to be redundant but these are the hydraulic leveling and three way adjustable that were standard on the car.

I read a lot about different ways and places to the work done, at widely varying costs.

Let me just say that I chose to send mine to Bilstein directly. They are located in Poway, CA. I spoke to one of their technical guys and he quoted me $125 each, plus any parts that were damaged and shipping. Dissemble (remove the springs) and clean the units prior to shipping to Bilstein.

They were 'done' in two weeks and the cost was as quoted. Resealed and recharged they make a great difference in the cars ride performance.

You can easily pay more but my experience was very positive. After all, who better to overhaul the units than the OEM. Speak to Mat, he made life very easy

Great info! I assume the same goes for 550 shocks?

I had my 456M shocks overhauled at another company in USA whick is reccomended here by many. After I fitted them again, I get a warning message in the instrument panel showing there are some problems with the shocks. That message was not there before. I can't really tell much of a difference in ride quality other that the tail of the car being less bumpy up and down. And the sport button does not work now, and did not work before either. This is really annoying, and the local Ferrari dealer say the suspension ECU does not communicate with the test tool. So what do you do then...........??

The price was about USD 2000 for all four shocks + UPS shipping both ways which was another 500 USD. I am not exactly satisfied.

You should ask "The other company" to assist you: I have not dealt with them, but apparently they have a good reputation and should know what they are doing.
