Waking this back up, as one of my cars needs dampers done. They are in North Carolina, I wonder if they survived the weather and flooding? I know I can call or email, but any idea where located before I go down that path? EDIT: they are east of damage and open. Getting ready to visit with them.

yeah, I was talking out loud in above post and should have just called them without posting. I feel terrible about NC and lived in that area as a kid some. I had an immediate need all of sudden and remembered your recent link, so jumped in head first and then panicked about location. Silly. They are great by the way! Wow, sending all four shocks out on the TDF. Pulling ridiculous wheels off and installing originals with new plus size rear tires. Then up for sale :)

I lost my passenger front shock yesterday on my F355 Challenge, I need to pull both fronts and get rebuilt ASAP. Is the general consensus that RE Suspension is still the best bet in the USA for factory rebuilds at the moment? Thank you in advance, I look forward to your feedback!

I would send to RE Suspension but make extra note they are challenge suspension and they should re-valve accordingly. You don’t want them rebuilding like standard dampers.

I guess I overpaid. I have a DeltaVee kit on my car. I had my shocks rebuilt at PSI. They said the shocks were rebuilt previously (presumably at DeltaVee), and done incorrectly, using either the wrong size shaft or the wrong size bearing (I forget which), which resulted in too large a gap. The shaft wiggled around and enlarged the opening till it was rattling audibly. PSI was helpful and walked me through a lot of diagnosing and parts aquisition.

DeltaVee has never responded to many months of phone calls, emails, texts, anything. So much for that warranty.

PSI is the official shop for Bilstein USA. The advantage of getting rebuilt instead of replaced is you can set it exactly the way you want, customizing internals to your specific needs or wants.

    Update:

So I installed all 4 dampers on my car, which is documented in the FHP suspension thread. However, I got a suspension light I didn’t have before. After running around chasing trying to chase the source of the problem, @carnutdallas advised I should check if the top adjusters on the dampers were spinning freely/effortlessly.

For whatever reason, this thought never occurred to me. Because I didn’t have a suspension light before, so I simply assumed the dampers were fine. I also felt like I did check a few just to play around with the adjuster when I received them, but apparently I didn’t check all of them. Turns out one of the front damper adjusters was stuck. Didn’t spin at all! Fantastic! Finally found the source of the problem as it was driving me nuts.

Bit of a hassle. I should’ve checked before installing them. Had to get the car back on the lift, remove the damper, disassemble and ship back to RE Suspension. I made them aware of the issue and to double check the adjusters before shipping out moving forward. Said they would look into the issue at no charge.

I also sent them another damper to rebuild just to pair with another damper I had them rebuild. Figured I’d kill two birds with one stone. Nothing wrong with the damper. Just figured it was best to rebuild dampers in pairs, even if one appears to be fine.

I’ve been emailing RE Suspension to bill me for the extra damper rebuild. Didn’t hear from J.C. Figured they were busy trying to figure out how to fix the adjuster problem, so didn’t want to bug em’ too much.

Today, I unexpectedly received both dampers. No clue they had even sent it out. In short, they didn’t bill me for the rebuild for the extra damper. I didn’t ask for it - I wanted to pay, but if that’s not customer service, I don’t know what is.

I should add RE Suspension is also an official/authorized Bilstein rebuilder.
