JFYI, I meanwhile got my 3D-printer, assembled it over the last weekend and did a lot of tests during the week on after work hrs. Things are working perfect so far and so I will come back in a few days with my offer for the cable helper tool. I just wait for material in an appropriate color. I made tests with grey material, but like Eric proposed, a color which is better visible when the motor assembly is installed inside the door would be recommended. So I decided to make them in light yellow. Best from Germany Martin
Hi Martin from a happy handbrake LED customer. I would like to have one printed also for preventive maintenance on some cold dark Swedish winter evenings! Yellow is perfect. ///TRS
Hello together, meanwhile I have actually finished a small batch of the window cable helper tool. I have just sent a PM to those, who have expressed interest so far. I apologize, if I have forgot the one or other of those, who havw expressed interest so far. Please send me another PM, if you got no message from me, but want to have such a tool. I got inquiries today, whether this tool also fits and is of use for the 328 window motors. I couldn't answer this. I just see on some pics I found, that the mechanism looks slightly different with sleeves for the cable but a similar spool. Can anyone of you tell me more? Best Regards and thanks in advance Martin
This thread calls into play a site policy. The site policy effected is trying to address the two kinds of posts on a DIY/project thread. The first are the posts that describe a problem and a solution. We welcome those as sharing with the community. The second type of posts are the eventual outcome of most DIY/project threads, which is a solution of some kind, that results in a group buy or tooling bought and paid for and some level of small scale production. This results in solicitations for sale and requests for availability. The second type of posts are in conflict with our policy that there should be no business conducted in the discussion forums, business should be conducted in the classified ad section. Veiled references to contacting the solution developer for "project details" are considered a circumvention as these invariably result in continued requests for availability. The approved process is to, once the DIY/project enters the solution available for sale phase, have the DIY/project solver post an ad in the classified ad section to offer the solution for sale and then post a link to the ad in the original DIY/project thread and direct all further inquiries to the ad. The thread can still remain for additional questions and improvements to the solution, but any and all availability questions should be directed to the ad.
Oh a reprimand. What's exactly your problem? Sorry, but it is no profitable business. Sorry for trying to help. An opinion from Rob would be highly appreciated, since we had a similar topic regarding my LED handbrake lever lights in 2016 and I understood it as an approval. I stop now, because I lack the appropriate talent and think rifledriver would find more suitable words. For all others and further conversation or interest in my window helper tool, see my thread from some years ago: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-308-gtb-gts-gt4-512bb-testarossa-window-cable-helper-tool.605556/ Best from Germany Martin
Not a reprimand. Guidance on how the site is addressing this kind of activity today vs 10-20 years ago. From the site's point of view, the question isn't whether you make a profit or not but the kind of traffic that is posted to a thread and that appears on the index pages as new posts. Also what is seen by new users as "acceptable" that they may try to emulate. We just had a new user try to sell 100 T-top conversions for 360 Spiders as a "project" thread. The guidance shouldn't be a hardship for you as you're a subscribed user with ad privileges already. If you want to call for someone's opinion, you do so like this. @rob lay. Consider this guidance on a "new" (since 2017) feature of the forum software also.
Be careful, your crime isn't significant, so then don't make it significant with your response. You are in good standing longtime user, active and helpful, and subscribed. All Yin is saying (he can correct me) is to not make this your advertising thread, create an offering in Classifieds, then you can reference that listing in here.
Are you saying he should be Classified Subscribed or just post a regular classified? If so, can he open back his prior one? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-308-gtb-gts-gt4-512bb-testarossa-window-cable-helper-tool.605556
Correct. This thread was started in 2019 and shortly after, activity on it ended and lay dormant. It was awakened this month, 6 years later, by a request for the part, soon followed by several "I want one too"s. During the intervening time period, we've integrated a more active classified ad section to the site and also clarified how to merge DIY/project activity in a manner consistent with the the policy of keeping ads and discussion separate, which I explained. To follow the guidance, all Martin has to do is to create an ad, which as a Silver subscriber he's already got the privilege to do so, and post a link to the new ad on this thread and direct further transaction traffic to the new ad thread. That's it. He doesn't need to upgrade his subscription or anything, he just needs to ignore any requests on this thread and just service requests on the ad thread. Edit: since he's already got an ad thread offering this part, then posting that link works and leverages what he's already posted. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/ferrari-308-gtb-gts-gt4-512bb-testarossa-window-cable-helper-tool.605556 Moving all the new "I want one too" posts to the ad thread.
