did any one made covers for birdmans fuse blocks?
Sorry, The Birdman fuse blocks don't easily lend themselves to covers. Looked into making some & couldn't figure out an attachment mechanism. One of the reasons I'm staying with my OEM fuse blocks (also because it ticks Birdman off no end - Heh, Heh, Heh ).
Yeah, to the point of making Cindy get out and push (while dressed up) when your OEM fuseblock failed on the fuel pump circuit a couple summers ago! I think I will give a pair to Cindy for Christmas!! The OEM fuseblocks are smaller because of the smaller fuses, so the OEM covers can't fit on the Birdman blocks. But I don't understand why you need them. The OEM fuses have an external fusible link which throws molten metal across the room when they blow. The covers are designed to keep them from lighting the interior on fire. The Birdman blocks use glass fuses that do not need covers. The covers do not contain detailed information on what each fuse circuit does, so they are not a good guide for trouble shooting. That information is in the owners manual. The OEM fuse covers only purpose once the fuseblocks have been replaced is to look OEM...and you can't seem them inside the dash. So I am not sure why they are needed. But if you are a person that needs originality, you probably don't want aftermarket fuseblocks anyway. I prefer them to breaking down, UNLIKE VERELL!! Birdman
verell i spent some time to figure out a way to attach covers to birdmans fuse blocks and i come up with something that i think it works just made a set. i am waiting for decals.
on my car the covers contain the corect info on them and the AMP for each fuse. on the old fuses you can tell the AMP on each fuse. on the glass fuses i need to put my glasses on + if a glass fuse blows the decal on the cover will display the AMPs.
Because the OEM covers won't fit the Birdman style fuseblocks, I just copied the fuseblock cover Labels and attached (velcro) the labels to the inside of the fuse cover panel, making fuse ID easy. Image Unavailable, Please Login
My fuseblock didn't fail, just the fuel pump fuse blew. Someone had put an 10A fuse into that position before I got the car. Don't know why it lasted so long! We were in the middle of a major intersection so I couldn't troubleshoot it there so we pushed it across the intersection into a parking lot. I wrongly thought the ignition had quit as it died instantly, usually a fuel problem will let the engine half try to run for a few seconds. After about 15 minuites chasing thru the ignition power, I thought about the problem some more & found the bad fuel pump fuse...
BTW, I do recommend using Birdman's fuse blocks. Honestly tho, It's a PITA to keep the OEM ones usable. Every so often I have to go thru & reset the rivits on the high current terminals to ensure a good connection. Also, I'm cheating a bit: The high current fuses that are the first to have problems are the headlights & fuel pump fuses. Part of my HID lights installation was a relay switched fused direct line to the battery, so that fuse just operates relays. With the SC install, I'm going to have to go to an in-line fuse holder for the fuel pump. Wow, are those ria's covers for the Birdman fuse blocks? They do look like the OEM ones!
Ria, Are these covers for sale?? I bet the bird could sell a million of them. Can i buy a pair? Sign me up. hopefully, chris
I think those are stock ones that Reaper is selling. Stock ones are too narrow to fit my fuseblocks. Good lord, what is the preoccupation with needing to put covers on fuses that don't need covers??? Ever hear the story about the woman who always cut the roast in half before cooking it? A friend asked her why she did it and she said because her mother did. So she asked her mother why, and her mother said she did it because [i[her[/i] mother did it. So they asked the grandmother and she said she did it because her roast pan was too small to fit the whole thing. The moral of the story... Just because Ferrari put plastic covers over the fuses to keep molten metal from lighting your interior on fire doesn't mean you need them with glass fuses!! YOU CAN'T EVEN SEE THE DAMN THINGS! Birdman
birdman will you please post my photo that i email you ? the covers that i made are to fit this fuse blocks and thay are not the stock ones. the stock ones are to sort and do not fit this fuse blocks.
chris for now i just made them for me. if birdman will not post a photo that i email him PM me your email and i will sent you some photos of the fuse blocks and covers.
thay are time consuming have to have the fuse blocks for a fit that is the problem to make sure the fit is correct.
Ria, From the pictures it looks like you're making the covers by gluing together strips cut out of clear plastic. Is that the way you're making them? BTW, please fill in your profile.
