I'm not sure of protocol for these things - if this is inappropriate, please delete.

My son is turning 10 next week and while trying to think of something special for his gift - instead of the barrage of video games he will get from his friends - it struck me.

    The boy is Lambo crazy.

Model cars, YouTube videos, posters - endless "which one is faster, a gallardo or a _____?" questions

Anyway, I was thinking back to my early car crazy days (I would have killed for a Shelby Cobra) and thought - it would have blown my mind if I got to go for a ride for my 10th birthday.

Thus my request: Would anyone in the Boston+ area consider a short "meet & ride" for the kid?

I figure it wouldn't take more than half an hour at the most, if you wanted. Meet, inspect, take photos - you take him for a ride (I'm not asking, nor need to drive), more photos, good bye.

It also doesn't need to happen next weekend (Birthday is the 19th) - I understand exotics and New England roads in February - we could set an "in the spring" date.

Anyway, think back to your days in 4th/5th grade - the Miura/Countach posters on the wall - and your dad saying "I've arrange a Lamborghini for your Birthday"

    Thank you all in advance,

    Richard/Lomotpk
    Boston area

Telling a 10 year old kid in Feb that he can ride in a Lambo in "the spring" should basically be considered child abuse. :) :)

That would be a longer 2 months that waiting for school to get out for the summer.

Some guys drive 'em all year, good luck in your quest. Got any air miles? Fly him to Florida for a weekend drive. (Dad of the year award hanging in the balance)

Someone in the area will step up. I believe there is a member here from the Lambo dealer in Boston. I am no way offering his services!!!, but how awsome would it be for you to take your son there becuase "you just happened to be driving by", and the employee hears its his B-day, while your drooling over the cars, and asks him if he would like to go for a ride, ONLY because he needs to test the car anyway. Otherwise the rest school will be there on thier B-day.
Sorry "D", I don't want you to feel like I put you on the spot, this was just a senario that would make for a great suprise. Besides, a 10yr. old in school the next day would put you on the map for the next generation.
Best of Luck, and HappyBirthday to your son!

I know i am a bit far but i would be happy to take your son for a ride and he can take pics with the car . I am in Long Island , you can catch a ferry from ct . I was the same way when i was a kid , but with the countach . I would have killed for a ride . It was a real gift even if i just saw one on the road , which was hardly ever . If somone took me for a ride , it would have made my day/year . So any time i can do somthing like this for anyone , especially a kid . I step rt up . I recently brought the car to a make a wish event for a special kid . I got my car and about 10 others from my club to make an appearence . It went over great and was very fulfilling on my end . So if you are interested , let me know ...
My car is a peal orange Murcielago with cool mods . Clear engine cover , chrome rims , great exhaust etc... Heres a utube video of the car from a few summers ago ....

Beautiful car Joe, and what a generous offer! Nothing like the original Murciélago! Good luck with this set-up. I hope he gets his ride.

Not a problem at all . Would make me happy to do this . I wish someone did it for me when i was a kid . For me it was seeing the cannonball run as a kid that started my passion with Lamborghinis and all i ever wanted was just to see a Countach in person , which i hardly ever did . But an offer to get a ride in one would have made my year , so hopefully i can fullfill your sons wish as i wish someone did for me when i was a kid . Sent you a PM .

    Dear Lamborghinisti,

    I'll step up...

...and it's a Diablo VT Roadster too :D

I've done this for a few kids...nothing like showing what you get if you stay in school.

I took my neighbor's 13 year old daughter to school for her birthday. I pulled up where all the kids mull around before school starts. I pulled up, blipped the throttle to 7000 rpm, got out, opened the door for her, and helped her out in front of all her "new" friends.

Funny, she's the prissy cheerleader type...always looking in the mirror...but even she couldn't handle all the attention when she got out.

....yes, the power of the Lamborghini, she was always popular but now known as the "Lambo-girl". :D

...oh, I always say..."choose a car...the Ferrari or the Lamborghini"...everyone goes for the Lamborghini. :D

I'm in Florida and use both cars as daily drivers....so, if it's raining...not an issue.

It is great to share your toys whenever you can. I take people for rides all the time and always do my best to be friendly and answer questions. I'll always remember being snubbed off by a 348 owner years back at a track event when I spent the whole day staring at his car and eventually worked up the courage to talk to him. Fact is that there is always someone out there with more and less than you and just because you have a fancy car does not give you the right to act like you are above the rest of society. Hope the 10 year old enjoys the experience, he may just pass on the favor a few years on.

Case in point. Last year I was at a car show and was quite taken by a particular car. The owner spent a good while showing it to me and talking about how he used to wash cars in order to get close to them. After a while of looking I thanked the owner for his time at which time he said 'wanna go for a ride'. I gotta tell you I felt 10 years old again and off we went for a full 30 minute joyride. The car you ask? Jay Leno with his McLaren F1. Yup a car total car guy :)

Joe, that's great. I believe half the fun of owning a Murci is sharing the experience with others. I give people rides all the time. It's fun to see how excited they are. The same was done for me a decade ago when I got to ride in a McLaren F1 that I thought i was just going to look at.

Can any of guys (or gals) on here give a heads up of any exotic shows or meets in the Boston area. Maybe lomotpk can take his son to meet during the summer also when the cars come out of the wood work.
I know of the Anderson Museum in Boston, Foxwoods in CT., Anhieser Bush in NH., I don't have the dates right now. Any others??????

The Larz Anderson show was great this past summer--so much nice stuff, but lacking in the Lambo dept. No Countaches this past year. :(

<--37 y/o who has never seen a Countach up close--it's my holy grail of cars to detail :)

    this is a great thread.

I remember being so into exotic Italian cars as a teenager, I used to go down to the Ferrari dealership and stare and drool.

One day at a Concours show, I saw my very first Countach in the flesh. I don't know what came over my 17 year old head, but I walked quickly up to a woman sitting near the car and said "who's car is this" and she pointed to her son who was talking to a few people (he was an older gentleman). I then walked up to him excited and said "I will do anything..." (and he starts shaking his head no) "...for a ride in your car!" and he kept shaking his head 'no' and verbally said "no problem...just meet me after the show, and I'll give you a ride." I parked my ass next to that car for 2 1/2 hours (time remaining in the show). People gathered to watch him open the doors and start it up.

He gave me a simple ride around the block (which was absolutely fine), but punched it every chance he could. That sound, OMG - and all the traffic that stopped to look.

I learned something that day, and that was to share your toys whenever possible. While I did hit my goals of getting a Ferrari, anytime someone has asked (very rare), I have always obliged and given a ride, or even just talk to them about the car.

So I think it's absolutely great when people (Critkeeper in this case as well as Shamile) share their cars with others.

JoeyM, nice set up with the two style lifts. I have to laugh at all the warning stickers the came on the hydrolic container of the blue lift (pic three). hahaha
Doing your own service could pay for the lifts in no time, maybe even one service with the lambo!!!
very nice offer by the way.
