After over twenty odd years, I had to find a new home for my breast, a 97 Maranello. The sweet thing has been to Las Vegas many times, the Bay area where it went down Lombard St, seen snow only a few times, been covered with purple flowers on I-15. I only got a few tickets.

Once it went up the grape vine at a little over twice the speed limit. The CHP Officer said it took him 10 miles to catch me after I slowed down.

On I-5 in the Great Valley an airplane past me by. My wife was driving. The wing tip was 50 feet away at a height of maybe 30 feet. He then went thru the electrical overhead wires cutting them. Wow, was he lucky as well as stupid.

Being old (78) I cannot react fast enough for the car. Also, my left knee is shot which makes it hard to do the clutch.

I have seen the ad for my Ferrari and it sold. The license plate was transferred to my wife’s car.

The amount of seat time was very high (76,000 miles). Most owners drive too little. I did not spend a lot of coin to look at it. I hope the new owner has as much enjoyment out of it as I have had.

@Bart - you graciously gave me a ride in your 550 probably 15+ years ago now and I still remember it well! When I saw the ad I immediately thought of you. Thanks for driving it as it was meant to be driven and for sharing the experience with others along the way. I will remember it forever.

That you kept the car for so long speaks volumes. It’s gratifying to follow your dedication to what was the right car for you. It feels to me like many high end cars these days get bought, stored, and flipped for a profit. But the ultimate value is in the experience. Kudos to you.

(And my left knee can’t be trusted either…)

Kudos on driving it so many miles; nothing like the experience a Ferrari can give a person.

But you had a lot of ownership miles, which you can have fond memories of…..as opposed to a schlub like me who has never owned a Ferrari and am unlikely ever to.

Any "schlub" can save enough money, buy a Ferrari, and enjoy it like Bart.

    Seen it countless times.

If you want one, get one.

    Betcha you can!

Not this schlub…..the time has passed. But for others, saving for a medium term goal is a very good thing.

Great story and experiences with man and machinery. Thank you for sharing!

Thank god also for the automated shifting, or whatever you call those paddle things now...just because your left knee is giving up doesn't mean you have to.
