Bizzare 360 Alarm System Engine Mgmt Issue

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just had a bizarre issue happen with the alarm/ecu on a 360 and wondered if anyone else has had this happen. I bought a 360 with 10,000 miles on it a few weeks ago and took it out today for a nice drive. We stopped at a drive in for drinks and snacks and I put the key in the "on" mode to listen to the radio. After about 30 minutes I started the car. I wasn't sure if the 60 second time out mode would occur while the ignition was in the "on" mode with the engine not running so I was prepared to have to push the alarm button on the fob. But the engine started up and ran, but with decidedly less power. All the temperatures were fine (although it was a hot day) and oil pressure was also fine. I was not far from home and thought that maybe the ECU had put the car in "limp home" mode which can happpen if a sensor goes bad etc. I watched the gauges carefully for the short trip home and as I was driving, it occured to me that the engine seemed to be running on 4 cylinders. Rather than risk getting stranded I decided to "get the car home" as long as temps/pressures etc remained ok.

Since this car is new to me I have spent some time reading on here about the alarm system and the two Motronic ECU's. It occured to me as soon as I got home to cycle through the alarm sequence with the key fob and after I did the car ran perfectly. So it appears that somehow the alarm system disabled only one of the two Motronic units???? Has anyone else had this happen?

By the way ---- I'm new to Ferrari Chat but appreciate the wealth of knowledge everyone shares here.
