At the T Rutland's picnic, there were 2 Boxers (one was Drew Altemara who boldly drove the 3 1/2 hours WITH HIS WIFE, making all of them worth of hero status). There were maybe 40-50 F-cars there, and a gorgeous day all 'round.

The other Boxer was a BLACK/TAN BBi for sale ith 17k miles, same owner 15 years, looked pretty good from a distance, had microblisters in the paint on both doors, 3 piece Gotti's (originals come with it) with new Pilots mounted. I hate to mention this, but the car has a wing mounted (two bolts holding it on per side, definitely 'removable'.) I can hear you all saying "ugh" but to the wise, this will likely turn off a BUNCH of buyers and may be a bit of an opportunity to someone who can see past this, um, accessory.

I've no financial or personal affiliation with the owner. Car priced in the $85k range, and probably very "buyable" since not marketed mainstream. Call him as you choose, Bob Clark at 404-354-1461.

He drove it to the event, car sounded good, interior was at least as good as mine, maybe better on the dash. All in all, though a bit of a cosmetic project, it has potential for the right person.

And indeed it IS pretty close to you! Probably worth a call just to accelerate your swap, or at least your heart rate. Maybe he wants a super nice 308?

There were actually three Boxers there including my all red on tan 1982 BB512i. And, just curious, why would you consider driving a Boxer 3 1/2 hours bold? My wife and I have taken my BB512i on many out of town trips including to New Orleans for the FFQC, to Indy for the USGP as well as to Florida for a long weekend. Each time we carried enough clothing for 3 or 4 nights including a tux and formal evening gown for the FFQC...the Schedonia luggage set helps with that. The Boxer is a great GT car that eats up highway miles effortlessly...that is what is was designed for...a 3 1/2 hour drive is a piece of cake...I often drive mine that long on a Saturday afternoon drive through the North Georgia mountains...

Okay, you definitely take the current boldness prize. I'm still getting my confidence up in my car, and was overly hesitant about giving it a 3 hour initial test drive myself. It's great to hear your reliability and trustability level - - very encouraging.

I knew you were supposed to be there, but I missed you somehow. I spent WAY too much time picking through boxes of overlooked Boxer bits.

No boldness on my part...the BB512i is one of the most reliable Ferrari's there are. My BMWs have given me more problems than my Boxer. I would not hesitate to jump in it today and drive to California...gas and oil is all it needs to hit the highway.

Agreed 100%. You would be hard pressed to find a more reliable car. I helped drive one from San Francisco straight through to DC April of last year. 3000 or so miles, 3 days, 0 drama. All the car wanted was gas and oil. Getting ready to do the same trip in the same car this coming Sunday.

Nothing bold about it. Get in, turn the key, and go...

Alrighty then - you guys are making me feel like going to the garage and just "get over it"... in fact, consider myself "gotten"! You know how it is though - unfamiliarity with an old car trains you to be alert to it's quirks - and that's my quickly passing stage.

The tech who did the major on the car felt the same way. In his very thick Austrian accent he said, "you need to djust ddrive da thing, ya. Eets gud car!"

Back to the original thread - the owner of THAT car felt the same. Hadn't driven it in a while, got in, twisted the car, 'boom' started and he was off sans hesitation or worry. A few of you have pm'd me about this (for sale) car and I know NOTHING more of it other than what I'd printed. I'd call Mr. Clark and go from there. Best wishes, and thanks again for the confidence booster.

What color was the dash? A friend used to have an '84 black tan with tan dash.

    Looked great.

:) thanks for the kind words, but i doubt any BB512 guy is going to want to downgrade to a 308GTB. plus, i have no cash for such a car, i need to get rid of the 308 as i am in 2 different schools right now. (Flight Safety and Catia V5) with no time to drive. i do have a few local friends with the ability to buy such a toy. :)

I was taking some interior shots and actually did get this of the black/tan car. Clearly a black dash, and not in bad condition. Seats had been redyed, but well enough. For some reason, I chose not to preserve the exterior with wing for posterity. Other shot shows 'ad' for car.

Adams, you're the man!! Just got the car today. It has loads of potential. Really a nice car that deserves a re-spray, an engine out service and a good detail to be a great car. Oh most importantly the spoiler and the wheels must must go!! Gene.

Yep, thanks. The black BBs have a great look to them, especialy with the two tone tan seats. This car will need a few things, but overall a very nice car.

Congratulations! Man, tell the story! Photos! Lies about pricing! The works!

Great going Geno. Hey, if it turns out to be a dream car, it was my doing. If it erupts like Vesuvius, I had nothing to do with it.

The guy was a long time owner as I recall, and seemed to drive it reliably. Tell more.

    Congratulations again!

Congrats - a black boxer - they do not come any finer in terms of Ferrari ownership. enzo's favourite?

Pictures geno, pictures.... Congrats again - I was just in Chicago - there are some nice roads heading south, 3-4 hours easy in a BB...

Thanks guys for your support and enthusiasm. I will get some pictures up as soon as I get the rear after market spoiler off LOL! I did have a great time driving the car to a small car show today (sponsored by a local restaurant/bar), where the car won best in show. I also was surprised over the amount of attention the car got. The BBs are very special cars in many ways, but you already know this. Gene

Congrats on the car Geno, my man. You done good. You will enjoy the heck out of it once you get it all sorted and spiffed up. It is a great driving experience to muscle it around and to listen to that glorious flat 12 roar at or near redline!

Now I'm thinking no one here has any idea what WE'RE talking about! Ferda's a trip and he does mighty fine work too, far as I can tell. For the curious, he's Vintage Motorcars in Houston, the ones who did the major on my car, prior to purchase.

I still regret not making you pour me a whisky while I was in your fair city. Perhaps after several, Ferda sounds perfectly normal.

Bring it down to Indy for the Circle Car Show on Friday. It might be the only Boxer there, who knows. Worth the drive anyway. Cya.
