Its kind of an interesting car. 32k miles? Well considering the speedo has been replaced, maybe Series 1 dash and console, yet its shod with TRX tires Series 1 front grille Series 1 hood grille It has no US side markers (don't see that very often) No rear fog lights (most series 1's don't) No load leveler system (again proper for a S1 but I wonder why the TRX's) Cracked left rear turn signal (I wonder what THAT costs) Split dash on right side near windshield Equalizer cut into wood console with 2 extra green lights under a/c controls http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=220254562357&ssPageName=STRK:MEWA:IT&ih=012
Dave, how come these cars have all different placement for the side markers on them?? just wondering was it standard to put both front and back?? mine has just the rear..just wondering..also 30k?? what do you think about that??? Image Unavailable, Please Login
It depended on where the company that federalized them placed it. Instructions weren't specific I think. Don
Looks like a nice car. Great color combination. Re. TRXs on Series 1 cars, see http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=137620236#post137620236 Aidan
Yea, yea, yea, thats the same brochure that says a Series 1 car has power locks so we all know how much faith to put into THAT piece of crap...oops I mean literature From what I cam tell it appears that a few. and I mean just a few, '82 cars had series 1 dash & consoles yet were fitted with TRX's
Aidan and Dave, I believe the brochure and the eBay car in question are correct. Re. TRX on series 1.... The Dec 1979 400i parts book lists the TRX wheel and tire option with part numbers on TAV 45. I am pretty sure TRX wheels were optional in 1980 (308 & 400i) and standard in 1981. Anyway like most Ferrari wheels all 400 400i and 412 wheels were date coded. My 1981 400i is marked as follows 11/80 (3 wheels) 12/80 (1 wheel) 01/81 (1 wheel). It would be interesting to know the wheel dates on other 80-81 cars with TRXs. Re. Central Locking... Ferrari considered a passenger side power lock central locking when first introduced. Although not shown in the wiring diagram this may be referred to as curb side locking in the 79 400i owners manual. Sometime in 1980 or 81 the 308 also received the power lock. IMO the logic being that there was no need for a driver side actuator as you would lock / unlock that door with a key from the outside. My series 1 car also has a (working) passenger side actuator that is triggered by the drivers door lock. Later cars have actuators in both doors. My guess is that many folks don't know their car has a power passenger side actuator because they usually don't work! The series 2 updates were for the 1983 model year so some would have had a late 82 production date. Lee @ T Rutlands
My car #48739 has passenger side (working) actuator for the door lock but unfortunately none on driver's side. If it was there as well, I would have installed a remote control for the door locking system. My wiring diagram does show this feature. Of course as a clear series 2 car, it is equipped with TRX wheels. Peter
