If we're talking about the same one, I did check it out; I was just there today - took me two hours of traffic just to get there...! The Enzo and McLaren were roped off together... So you gonna post that F50 VIN...?
I'm definitly not going to post it for a public forum. I don't know how I feel about giving it out for respect for the owner.
the nero F50 posted in the first pic... I recall it was a daily driver and was known as F50K because it's higher mileage LOL
There is a crazy amount of paint shrinkage into the CF on that NJ F50. Wow!!! More than I have ever seen on an F50.
There was a Rosso Corsa one for sale here a while back that had similar shrinkage on the hardtop roof. Looked absolutely terrible; but definitely "factory". The rest of the car had varying degrees of shrinkage in the paint. They will all get it to some degree as the paint ages.
i contacted the former owner and he said the car had 200 miles when purchased and 600 when sold about four years ago. also that the black paint over the cf looked totally flat with no shine at all. this is what gave him the feeling that it resembled the batmobile! he obviously felt the paint job was less than desirable. he also had a red f50 he sold at the same time. and that his very good friend and partner "fuse" would know everything about the black f50 as he was there at both the time of purchase and the time of sale.
On US spec cars it is mandatory that the VIN be visible from the outside of the car. Therefore because whenever the owner drives the car around out in the public, everyone who sees it can see the VIN. There is nothing secret about it really, so you would not harm the owner at all by giving it out. Now if you feel uncomfortable about giving out the owner's name, that is understandable. But in general VIN numbers are public knowledge, just go onto CarFax! -Jarrett
There were two US model F50's in black, and when I say that , that means the factory built two cars for the US market. However, there are 3 Black US cars, the third car did not go through any US Dealers, it was a gift from Agnelli (sp?) to John McCaw for a yacht deal he did with him. This car was sold out of McCaws collection about 3-4 years ago, not sure where it went but only had a few hundred miles on it. Wade
The black F50 we had was not the same VIN as the 2 listed in this thread, and was purchased from McCaw. I don't know who purchased the car, gonna have to check with our broker.
Man, I always drool over it. . . . . . but you know some people don't like that cheap-ass carbon fiber look, for some it's all about the "dent resistant door panels" from a Saturn, perhaps?
I will try to track it down. This is some time back, so my photos are archived on 1 of hundreds of DVDs, and the low res I had used to email I couldn't make out what it is, just pretty sure that it is not the 2 listed. So I have to make some time to search and perhaps get my broker to go thru his records for me...it has been 4 years or so now. Back then, many people couldn't receive images that are VGA and higher...sigh! PM me your email and I can send you that low res photo for the time being, maybe you can make it out.
Jeff, I am not sure why you seem irritated on this post and your PM. I had responded to your PMs when I received them Thrusday. I responded to your PM today as well as soon as I received them. What gives?? Also, having your icon of Steven McQueen's picture relpaced with mine is kinda funny, but not too much because he is one of my idols!
not irritated fuse! didnt get the first couple pm's but did get the one today. put your idol back in place! best jeff
Jason, I understand you don't want to share the VIN of your friend's car... But now it seems like you're all take and no give when you start asking other people to share VINs with you...
