Hi all, Been looking at some 355’s to get myself a manual. A couple that I have encountered have a black sticker on the line that goes along the sides of the car. Is this from peeling paint, redone panels, or possible ever fresh from dealer? As always, thanks all.
The item you’re referring to is an original Factory part, 332100060 (self sticking black stripe)…. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Wow. Thank you!! Missed that when looking. My car is at the shop for maintenance, so I can’t look. In the part pic it only points to the rear section behind the door. I’m guessing it’s a sticker the whole way though? Not just the rear. When people repaint their cars, I wonder if they have the line painted or have to find a similar sticker.
Hi John, yes, the tape stripe is on the doors and behind the wheels on the front fenders also. The original part is NLA. They make up the look of the belt line created by the bumpers. Always an attention to detail clue after a repaint.
When I had the buttresses re-done about a decade ago we found that it was black adhesive tape the whole length from front to back. I asked the shop to renew the entire stripe on both sides even though they were doing a localised repair. The original tape was fading by that point. The shop used a 3M self adhesive stripe that they had readily available. It still looks like new, if anything, it’s probably better quality than the Ferrari OE item.
There are photos of cars for sale with and without the black stripe. Maybe the latter are repaints by unobservant paint shops. The stripe seems to be applicable to the 2.7 and 5.2.
How wide is this stripe supposed to be? I want to re-do the stripes on my car, and see 1/2" and 5/16", etc. available on Amazon. Seems a pretty simple job to place new tape in the channel at the top of the fiberglass panel. Mine looks like it's supposed to be gloss, rather than matte finish-- does that sound right? Thanks!
I beleive it has some special glue originally underneath to hold against when you are washing the car, raining etc...
