Hi everyone, I've been a watching and reading these forums for a little while now, and have enjoyed the advice, stories and banter very much. I have been somewhat reluctant to post considering the fact that I am not yet an owner, but all that may change! I'm pretty excited about a very nice black Mondial I've found with substantial records and service history in New Jersey. I am hoping that maybe sombody knows this car and can give some information. Car is 1986 black Modial cabriolet 3.2. VIN 2FFXC26A2G0061301. The dealer said it was serviced by a Mr. Mario Lomedico. He also told me not to bother calling him since he won't give me any information about the car due to privacy issues. I think that is a lot of BS, considering that everyone in the Ferrari world seems to know everyone else. So does anyone know Mr. Lomedico or any way I can reach him? Any information, clues or feedback would be much appreciated. I hope to be able to join the ranks of the owners on this site soon! Good health and best wishes to all.

Yeah, I have seen that one advertised like yesterday, very nice indeed. I kinda have my heart set on the 1986 though, I'm sure somebody here has got to know this car or this mechanic, it's a very small Ferrari World. Many Thanks for looking out though!

I saw that car online and from the pics it looks like a great buy, especially at $24,900. If it passes a basic PPI for durability (engine, trans, rust-free body, conv top including rear quarter windows, etc) I'd buy it today! :)

At this price history wouldn't be a consideration at all unless there's a poor accident repair to consider.

I have seen this car and looked at it very hard.... The guys are nice there and seemingly decent. The car has issues though. It definitely needs a new clutch. The clutch actually slips when you drive it. That'll be $1800 or so. The car will also need a belt service in the not too distant future ($5000). It has been a while since Mario did it. Mario is well known and respected in the area. However, he does some "goofy" things like paint the engine and rims when he has the car. You'll see this on one of the rims.... Other things... The top is fraying in one place and needs to be replaced ($2000). The windshield wipers barely work. The electric mirrors do not work. The rearview mirror is loose. The cigarette lighter was missing. The stereo did not work. The car needs a NJ inspection and I think it will be a challenge for it to pass at the moment. The doors have been repainted and shows a lot of filler. If you measure the distance between the top of the front tire and the fender you will notice it is different on both sides. The exhaust tail pipes protrude at different lengths from the rear grill. The guys that did my PPI think it was in an accident at some point.... They also thought it was leaking hydraulic fluid - you could smell it. Finally, when I looked at it the car didn't start and stalled repeatedly. A new battery was put in which seems to have solved the problem. On the plus side, the car did shift very nicely and I loved that it was black. The last offer to me was $22,900 without any warranty and "as is". I passed and spent more money on a car with complete records and a very recent service. My advice....look hard, be careful, be patient and either be ready to spend money on a car like this or pay up for one that is in better shape. Good luck!

There aren't many things that'll beat a first hand account. Thanks for posting your findings on this car.
