So here I am, looking for that FF that I dream of (see my other, older, thread) - and where ever I look, it seems to be: black on black as color combination? And of course red with black interior.

My question is: Why black on black? Black interior I can understand - does not get as dirty as say cream. But black metallic paint, it is true pain to keep clean all the time.

So Why black on black? Anyone have any kind of nice answer for this?

Why not ? I've only had Nero / Nero. There are a lot of red Ferraris not so many black. I wanted mine to be different. Good luck bro.

I have a Nero Daytona car and black interior with yellow accent stitching. To me black is all of these: elegant, stately, menacing, regal and neat (the accent stitching gives it a button down look). A black car demands your attention both visually and in the car care department. It gives me an excuse to spend time in the garage. Not that I need one.

I often ask why people chose what they do- but they choose it anyway!

I see very few BLK/BLK ... and I like the combo with a red stitch or yellow stitch.

This one for example is beautiful. Almost new ... looks great in person. Paint was wrapped.

It is a big car with some unusual lines. The black on black (or other dark colors) make the car look a bit better IMHO.

Agree it is a pain to keep clean...

I've had black cars for years, and love the FF in white. Black second choice.

This one is FS in a lovely pearl white metallic with analine cuoio, an 18,000 option:

And my new to me '14 bianco avus with black/red interior (bottom of the page):

FF is a car that is really growing on me. Never met anyone who has owned one who hasn't raved about how it drives. Proportions are different--but it is a large 2+2 so they have to be.

At 48 I've driven a lot of great cars over the years and the FF is, in many ways, the ultimate car. The rear end and size disappears. Over 130 it feels very planted. Around town you can be tame and civil or punch it as needed. Sport + bumpy road is the best of all worlds. Rain or snow, fold down the seats, get groceries. Whatever you need in one car.

I'm very new to this car but the sense of "occasion" as Chris Harris put it, perfectly true. Always a special moment so far and I can't see that going away in the years to come, given my feelings about cars that I've had 5-10 years and loved more and more over time ... until the expenses and miles got too high for the bushings and metal to feel tight (over 150,000).

Yes it's loud and sucks gas, that's part of the deal. But the V12 sound is heavenly. Feels rear wheel. The visibility is great, the interior sublime. If you want quiet + speed + energy efficiency, get the Tesla P85D, there is that option ... the leather is junk and it's plastic everywhere, and the suspension is still a very new design ... it's a parts car at this point. That to me is the greener option to the gas hog FF.

Yet as a gasoline car? FF is a joy. The build quality in every respect and diversity of driving options can't be beat. Americans seem to hate hatchbacks and they like their Ferrari to look like a midlife crisis. I disagree on both counts. I want a do everything car, that's always fun and inspiring and beautiful and the highest quality all around. Personally I'd like to see a new body style as well, as this one will then be more rare. My connections are saying TT8 on the new FF. We will see.

Since purchasing my F12 in RC I've noticed that Red seems to be the least popular colour when looking at F12's and FF's

Also owning a Nero 599, taught me that no matter how good it looks, it shows every mark, speck of dust, smear of way etc. I really enjoy cleaning my cars, but the Nero has pushed that to the limit ;)

Ditto. BTW even the gas mileage can be respectable: I pull 17 mpg at a steady 85 mph. But around town....
TT8 will guarantee that I don't get one. This car is about the engine.
