Hi Guys, Please read before crucifying me! The car pictured here is a Black on Black car (pic attached), I sold nine months ago and am likely buying back in the next few days. The current owner has wrapped it and purchased new wheels. I know his styling isn't to some peoples taste, including my own. I am getting the upgraded 5 spoke Ferrari OEM wheels included as well, so I will have both wheel options. I am planning on having the following done: - wrap the bonnet, mirrors and door pulls in white to match the rest of the car, leaving just the roof and engine cover in the 3D CF wrap. - Remove CF wrap on rear lights - I am either going to leave the roof as is or change it for gloss black (non CF) to match the wheels. - Having the car lowered to eliminate as much wheel gap as possible on the front and rear. Once the above has been done, I will likely keep it like this for the summer, then I am going to remove the wrap and enjoy the car in its original form (may keep the wheels not yet sure, as I haven't seen them in person yet). A few questions please. The after market wheels shown are 22" rears and 20" fronts. This is the first time I have seen a 22" and 20" setup. Is it bad for the car? Will it look just plain weird having a two inch difference? Does anyone know the cos to have the brake calipers painted to another colour while keeping the writing? Thanks and opinions (good or bad) are welcome. Agree....return her to her original black color. I lke the after market wheels but without the white stripe.
God that wrapped one looks as tacky as some of the Mansory products........back to original if you have a bit of taste.
I don't like the white stripe on the wheels or black wheels, but the black and white body is appealing. I would try it with the original wheels on for the summer and see how you like it. You can always take the wrap off anytime, so nothing lost trying this out for a bit.
I dont know but am i the only one who likes its uniqueness? i think the only thing you need to change is the bonnet. its a bit overkill.
I like the look except the bonnet. My car is exactly how I Iike it, Black/White. It is your car, enjoy it the way you like it. Brake calipers can be done for under $400 at least in Nevada and Califonia.Best
For what its worth....the original black, with the aftermarket wheels...sans the white stripe would be a stunner. Very sinister.
looks bad as is but minor changes could help. Paint strip on wheels black and remove wrap on front trunk. That might be fun for while then go back to stock
For me: bonnet in white, wing mirrors in white, lose the white strip on the alloys, lose the black on the rear lights. Remove the matt/carbon fibre roof wrap and back to original. Would be interesting to know what the interior is to help with this. But obviously this is how I would do it...It is your car at the end of the day. Looked stunning originally for sure!
Dude - have you ever heard of .......Less is more. It's a Ferrari - not a Ford. Let the car rest in peace - Black is just cool. The other car belongs in a circus. Oh and the 22inch wheels will kill all your handling and agility of the car. Sorry for the honesty my friend - enjoy the car when you get it.
Agree with the comment regarding the 22 inch wheels and handling. I prefer the stock alloys you originally had.
Didnt realize it was cf wrap. New opinions Remove it all and replace roof with gloss black. Paint mirrors to match. Put back stock wheels but paint them gloss black too. Simple but would look distinctive and great
^^ This or everything back to stock. Regarding wheels I would do the stock wheels in black or a 20/21" aftermarket setup.
The car is being returned to stock on Monday. I am a bit worried that removing the wrap will damage the paint as it has been on for 4 months. I am paying £1k to have the car wrap removed and have the car detailed. I also found out the aftermarket wheels on the car are all black. It turns out there was just a strip of white wrapping on the outer edge of the wheels and they have been removed. As a result I am considering putting the 20"/22" wheels back on car. Thoughts? I am going to have the brake calipers changed from aluminium colour to either red or yellow (the car will be Nero and doesn't have scuderia shields on the fenders. If I do this what do you guys think about having a line on the edge of the wheels to match the calipers and visually separate the rim from the tires. I have never been a huge fan of all black wheels as I find it blends in too much with the tire. Plast question, what is the cost of having the car lowered on the OEM suspension? Thanks and pics will follow of the finished result.
coincidentally i just got email from ferrari.com that showed a white 458 with new optional carbon front hood lid. looked a lot like your car
I think that a 20/22" setup looks a bit awkward, to big of a differance. 20/21" is the sweet spot, but that's just me. Painting the calipers is a good idea though as it really adds to the car imo. If you keep the wheels, putting on a color matched stripe will give the car more of a racing look, so it depends on what direction you want to go with the car. Subtle (well, as sublte as a 458 can get..) and elegant or race car like. I'm guessing lowering prices can vary greatly depending on who's doing the work so call your local dealership and ask them.
