Ok crew, bear with me as I am still new at this. My Boxer (BBI 512)
or was that 512 BBI ? Has a very nice repaint and the shop must have also repainted all the black trim around glass and door window frames. Was the factory original, black anodized on all these surfaces? Regarding the black silicone, the paint shop did a terrible job of redoing this. I understand that it is very hard to re-apply it in a smooth manner. They also used a very glossy silicone. I believe the factory used a medium gloss to flat material.

its epoxy type paint on the window trim and door frames not anodized

the windshield sealant is a urethane not silicone and should be flat in appearance, they mask off the edge to get a clean line and use a spreader or finger to get a uniform finish.

Anodized trim on a BBi for sure, probably painted on a carb car.

interesting, the 300 mile BBi at Symbolics trim had a high gloss to it and it appeared painted as well to me, of course I didn't try and scratch it with a quarter to verify

You should have, give it a scrape and see next time you are there :). Mine is anodized like my 308 trim. Older 308s have painted trim that is flat rather than rounded. I suspect ferrari might have made the switch right across the board for cost reasons. My windshield trim is slightly faded and should be redone. Then there is always the chance that ferrari made early BBi's with painted and later with anodized, mine is an 82.

    makes sence

The salesman was already on to me when I mentioned the OE grill badge and was following me around everywhere, he said if it disappears he knows where to find it. I'll wear a disguise next time and check out that trim :)
