I seem to remember a past thread discussing a mysterious BLACK VISA card that was an "invitation only" card offered to high rollers with an unlimited credit rating. Somebody please refresh my memory on this mystery card so that I can win some arguments with co-workers about this card's existance.

I think you're referring to the black AmEx card. Yes, it does exist. I've seen one.

I haven't seen the thread on here, but I presume that what you're talking about is not a black Visa, but a black AMEX card called Centurion. As far as perks go, it's similiar to AMEX's Platinum card with a few more additions (elite/gold status with some frequent flier programs and hotels, personal assistant, ability to get your into sold-out restaurants/other interesting places, etc). The customer service is good, but I wouldn't say that it differs from the Platinum one by a great degree.

It has a fairly high annual fee (it varies from country by country, but it's $2500 in the USA) and (in my opinion) is generally not worth it unless you travel a great deal and/or spend a lot of money with them. Speaking of which, in order to get one you usually need to spend about $10-15K/month with AMEX for a couple of years and you'll either be offered one or you can call and ask for one.

That's that - post if you have specific questions, will be glad to answer them.
