We had those things all over our sheds at NC Speedway in Rockingham. Ronnie our Maint. Chief used to chase after them and squash them while I was running the other way (literally) trying not to die. LOL Brings back some funny memories, but those things are bad news if you get nailed by one of them.

Leaving lepidoptera...Please, don't touch the display,
little boy, aha cute! Moving to the next aisle we have
    arachnida, the spiders, our...finest collection.
This friendly little devil is the heptothilidi,
unfortunately harmless. Next to him, the nasty licosa
raptoria, his tiny fangs cause creeping ulcerations of
the skin (laugh). And here, my prize, the Black
Widow. Isn't she lovely?...And so deadly. Her kiss is
fifteen times as poisonous as that of the rattlesnake.
You see her venom is highly neurotoxic, which is to say
that it attacks the central nervous system causing
intense pain, profuse sweating, difficulty in
breathing, loss of consciousness, violent convulsions
and, finally...Death. You know what I think I love the
most about her is her inborn need to dominate,
possess. In fact, immediately after the consummation
of her marriage to the smaller and weaker male of the
species she kills and eats him...(laugh) oh, she is
delicious...And I hope he was! Such power and dignity
...unhampered by sentiment. If I may put forward a
slice of personal philosophy, I feel that man has ruled
this world as a stumbling dimented child-king long
enough! And as his empire crumbles, my precious Black
Widow shall rise as his most fitting successor!

Spiders are my number three fear (after public speaking and death, in that order). There is this zoo/museum near me that has a live spider display in their insectarium, and they don't even keep the things behind glass! They say the spiders don't leave because they are fed there. I was going to have my wedding ceremony in their butterfly conservatory in the same building, until I saw that display!

We had a widow explosion in our new dealership building a few years back. All the bundles of steel came in from Fla. and were already infested. Once the building was built, the battle was already lost. We would kill 30-40 a day with carb spray and a lighter!! :D Exterminator/fumigator guy told us for every one we see, there are 100 you don't. :(

I think my dad got bit by either a black widow or brown recluse in his sleep around a month ago. He was quite sick for a few days.

F spiders. I don't care how small it is compared to how big I am I freak out, they're creepy fang covered eight legged spawns of satan himself. I was at the zoo a couple of weeks ago, and they had one of those Australian bird spiders, holy sh**. It was behind 2 inches of glass and I still got the hell out of there as fast as I could.

Yes they are in fact one of those is suspected of bringing down a Dutch F-16 in Afghanistan. It is suspected that the pilot was attacked by one that was hiding in the cockpit and attacked the pilot mid flight.

Brown Recluse....those are seriously nasty. Several decades ago, I worked as a whitewater raft guide. We had a 5-hole outhouse. You had to watch your a$$ when you went in to make sure one wasn't hanging out wanting to catch flies and would then get all upset when you sat down on its hunting ground. Occasionally someone would get bit. As if that wasn't bad enough, we had black widows and scorpins too. I hate bugs. Makes my skin crawl.
