You know the difference betwen a "Fairy Tale" and a "War Stoy?" The Fairy Tale starts off, "Once Upon a Time........." The War Story starts off, "And NO ****, there I was. The southwestern US has a cousin of these commonly referred to as "Sun Spiders." They used to "chase" us kids too............. trying to get into the shade our bodies created.
Rah, camel spiders. The answer is yes but no, the picture is misleading. In the picture you have two of them together and the angle of the picture suggests it was a close up, it's nowhere that big as the leg of the fellow behind. This is one of the most popular pics on the internet. Real camel spiders are about 6-7inches iirc Edit, he beat me to it.
it's real but if you look you can see it's actually TWO spiders mating or fighting or something and still disgusting as hell but Bear Grylls say's cut off their heads and swallow em!
