This realy pisses me of and is one reason why there are so many clocked/dodgy 355s on the market. Its a stamped up service book on ebay. The book is ready for you to add your own details:( WTF!! Its even got 7!! bids, no doubt by straight ferrari owners....NOT!!
This is the second one i have seen this year alone.

Personally, I have never gave a darn about recorded mileage, I figure the older a car is the more chances its had to pass by a dealer who would do it, or it rolled over 99K and sometime after the next owners didnt catch it, or myteriously forgot to mention it. But to falsify documents to back up the phony speedo is just way wrong. The next question is, what dealer stamped the book? Good data point though for when someone asks the mileage on our car. The real damage here though, is to those of you who have honestly low mileage cars. This kind of garbage will hurt you.

Bah, us 348 owners are an honest bunch and we would not succomb to such a fradulent act like these lowlife 7 bidders on this service book for the 355. :) But to back you up chaz(for once ).......this does suck major ass!! Somone should bid on it, win it.........then burn it so it doesnt reach the hands of a scammer 355 owner looking to rip off the next owner!!

Sadly, it also means there is a 355 owner who is missing a book. Some jackass probably sold his car and held on to this for scalping a few extra bucks.

    Whats the big deal?

The service book has all the cars ID information in the front. Look there and see if the book belongs to the car.

At dealers we never pay any attention to the book. It can be stamped by anyone.

Invoices with detailed descriptions of work and a list of parts is far more important.

Those books get stamped to make the owners feel better. No one in the business pays any attention.

I feel alot better knowing that my car actually had a oil change at the correct intervals Brian. :) Not unlike the peice of crap that I looked at last year in Sydney. It had NO service book/history with the car. That straight away detered me from buying the car and the fact that it was a sh*tbox! :D My 348 has an impeccable service history since new in England. A very clean slate actually. :)

Of course its a big deal that stamped up and blank books are for sale on ebay. Mind you it does not supprise me that a few see no problem with that. So its interesting to hear a specialist say that service books dont matter.
Whats the first thing that a future owner looks at/for? Full service history. With these books for sale on ebay, you simply put your own car details in the front of the book.

Like I said anyone can stamp a book and it is done all the time.
Invoices are a record that have some meaning.

The dealers in this area NEVER fill out a book except at customer request.

I see them every day with ZERO information except what the factory printed in it.

I know you don't pay any attention except what you want to hear but since at least the early 80's the factory PRINTS the car identification in the front of the book. If that is not there it is a fake anyway.

Compare the book to the car.

I know mate. I see it all the time in our line of work. ;) Everyone doesnt keep their invoices though, thats the problem. It is good to know that the car has been serviced with stamps in the book IMO. Do you mean dealers in the area.........UK or Fcar dealers in general dont stamp the book? :)
