Yep: the Bamberg is clearly "period correct" for a 1978: some further reading here

They are both from the same time period late seventies. But to me the Becker looks older. Interesting to have others opinion. I'm tending towards to Blaupunkt as well.

What came OEM? I agree the Becker looks like a sixties car. The Bamberg I know well; have about five of them LOL acquired during a couple 930 restoration projects. In the 930 Turbo it came with an underdash digital tuner and a remote microphone for dictating memos. It's a complicated and fussy radio; tape transport is almost impossible to repair, but very much a seventies period-piece as a very early precursor of digital tuning.

OEM probably depend on the market where the car was sold new. Usually Blaupunkts for the 1970's, but it may vary.

Becker makes me think more Mercedes than Ferrari, but that is just me.

oh yeah great; that's the same digital tuner and microphone as the 3.0L Turbo Carrera. Didn't realize it was 308 also but that makes sense it was the hot setup for the day. I wonder how many survived: it debuted right on the threshold of an explosion in aftermarket stereos which were far better, so most got ripped out and thrown away in Porsches.

The Becker would look more correct in an older German car (mercedes, BMW).

The blaupunkt looks more correct in a Ferrari.

Audio design cycles were far shorter than vehicle design cycles. So a 1978 radio is styled years ahead of a 1978 car. Audio in cars from the same manufacture year invariably looks too new to me, regardless of "period correctness". However, the Becker is nicely retro so just fits imo. If you weren't so far away, I'd buy it off you & put it in my own car :)

Thanks for all the input, it's greatly appreciated. Think I may go the Blaupunkt. I prefer the styling of the Becker, nicely retro, but the minimal and more petite look of the Blaupunkt seems to blend in better with the dash. Obviously subjective. The Becker would possibly suit a GT4 very well.

I need a radio for my 78' Gt4 still. I have a original round dial super tuner I'd trade for a correct one for the Dino?
