I took my 360 in to Ferrari of Washington last week for an oil change and they told me there was an open campaign on my car for the cam variators to be replaced. I had them do the work. The next morning when I started the car, my belts were slipping badly (screaming for the first minute after start up). I never had this issue before. I took it back and they told me the other belts (alternator, water pump, etc, NOT timing belt it was done last Dec) needed replacement. I was very annoyed b/c they could have replaced the belts while they were doing the cam work but they chose not to and didn't ask if I wanted to. I had them do the work anyway. $550 later, I started the car this morning and they are still slipping. Not as bad as they were but still slipping. Does anyone know why the belts could still be slipping?

Bring it back and raise all hell. Tell them you want it fixed now. Drive it into the service bay and right up to one of the techs. stalls. get out, get the service manager and tell him to fix the damned thing.

It amazes me how much crap some of you guys put up with from Dealers and local shops with $100k auto's. You already got screwed, at least get some satisfaction out of it.

I'd check with the dealer, but I'm sure they will find something else wrong with the car and charge you again. My bet would be that they need to readjust the belt tension.

Pardon my ignorance, but do 360's have a belt tensioner? Mabey something with the tensioner isn't right.

I plan on taking the car back. I wanted to know if anyone knows what they could have done wrong, why the belts are still slipping.

I wanted to follow up on the belt issue and let everyone know that I took the car back to Ferrari of Washington. I dealt with the service manager Glenn. He was awesome. I was very impressed with his technical knowledge of Ferraris. He listened to everything I had to say and addressed the problems immediately. It turns out that the power steering belt wasn't sitting right on the pulley.
