A friend of mine, who lost his eyes to infection in the incubator shortly after birth, was a mechanic for many years. Not only was he a mechanic, he owned his own shop and worked most of the time by himself. He could remove, and rebuild complete engines with very little assistance. He used to rebuild Porsche 911 engines, and once donated his time to do a rebuild of a transfer case in a local volunteer fire departments 4 wheel drive firetruck.
He did all kinds of work on American cars too, rebuilding and tuning lots of engines, doing brake jobs, etc.
I used to have a Porsche 914 with a 327 Chevy in it. I thought I had a noisy lifter so I drove by his shop, after not having seen him for two months, and he immediately recognized me by the sound of my car. I asked him if he could hear the noisy lifter and he said "No, but I hear an exhaust leak at the manifold." Well *** I said to myself, and looked. Sure enough, I was missing a header bolt. I told him he was right and he asked me to walk over to the large cabinet on the west wall of his shop. He said "Eighth row down from the top, fourth drawer from the left, reach into the very back of the drawer".
I reached into the drawer and pulled out a manifold bolt......it threaded right in.

Indeed. I love how he has the passion to do what he wants to do, instead of people hating on him. Good story!! :)
