What does "BLING" really mean, what are its origins etc?
that article states that it was originated by the Big Tymers in the later 1990s, yet Tupac Shakur said it several times obviously previous to his death in 1996. What a rip-off. Why are these words being put in the dictionary? Shouldn't f-ck be in there then? I'm sure I've said F-CK a trillion times more than I've said 'bling bling'. it's silly!
well then, go ahead and feel free to add to the Psuedo-Dictionary. i added a few things many moons ago, i believe i even invented a new game, called Blingo. been a while since i took credit for making stuff up.
If you saw a modified Japanese car with a see-through hood showing the engine you would think that was "Bling-bling". Taking this idea in isolation I think the F-cars with the see through engine covers have stepped over the tasteless line.
Yet another honor given to our city. It is the birthplace of "Bling", or so I've been told. Apparently someone by the name of "lil wayne" from somewhere around here put it in a rap song and it became so popular that it is now part of the English language. lil wayne performs with another rapper called "juvenile". He was arrested by the local police here after chasing strippers through his subdivision with an ice pick because they caused his bathtub to overflow. They ran down the block at 3 a.m. and beat upon someones door until those people called the cops. About 6 months later his house was repossessed. The story on that is that he got upset with his home-owners association because they were complaining about a hummer parked on his lawn and a tour bus parked in the street. He was so angry he stopped paying on his mortgage to get back at them. (LOL I guess he showed them) That is what he told everyone after Chase Bank sent the cops in to take control of his house anyway. http://www.livedaily.com/news/1519.html
"bling" is rap vanacular, most people my age say the word at some point, perhaps they think they're "bling" aswell? i wouldnt agree though...
