the 412 on an Adirondack road rally. Two cars back was the 275NART Spyder that Denise McCluggage drove to a class win in the 1967 Sebring 12 Hours. On this drive she's at the wheel of her old Ferrari. That evening I had dinner with her and John Fitch. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
What can I say? The photos and story say it all. Thank you for sharing the story. And, my apologies for side-tracking the thread about blue Ferraris but, I'm sure, no one will object too strenuously. Jon
I don't like the blue. I LOVE the blue! (And this is coming from a red Ferrari owner.) That 412 looks fantastic in blue, as does the 328.
speaking of blue... just came across this Blu Montecarlo car for sale. Strikes me as a very contemporary blue. Image Unavailable, Please Login
If that blue was metallic it would be really nice. I'm really partial to the metallic blues and my favorites are Sera, Dino, and Chiaro so far. My car was originally Chiaro, so I may go back to that color but finding a good reference image is hard to do. Over several threads people have posted Blu Chiaro Met cars and the blues all look really different from one another with everyone swearing theirs is the real Blu Chiaro Met. The differences appear to be more than what's accountable with the picture environmentals. Funny world, Ferrari, with paints being just as uncertain as so many other aspects of these cars.
One of the most stunning 308s I have ever seen (pictures only) was a triple blue US spec car. I want to think it was an 83 QV, but I would not swear to that. PDG
I found this very nice picture of what Blu Chiaro Met looks like in its later Glasurit iteration as Blu Chiaro Met FER 503/C. Thought some might like it as a reference. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I assume the "triple" would be: exterior color, upholstery color and carpet color. My 328 was delivered blue sera 504C exterior, nuvola VM3015 (light blue) upholstery and (navy) blue carpets. The top, spoiler and rear quarter window louvers are the usual black. Although different shades of blue, I think it would be considered "triple blue". Jon
Yeah, I have that toy. Though I like it better since it has tan interior rather than what I have, which is as I have just learned, triple blue.
Triple blue must be very rare on 3x8s... even if "spiderGT" has a 328 like that, with the rare "Nuvola" leather. Rgds
Unfortunately, my car no longer has the original VM3015 nuvola interior Sometime along the way, it was redyed a light blue that was close but not exact. The seats had dried to an extent that I needed to replace them. After discussion with the upholsterer (Phoenix Upholstery as used and recommended by RX Autoworks RX Autoworks), I opted to replace the entire interior in the closest match we could find rather than just the re-trim the seats and re-dye the rest (2014). End result: the interior (except for the black dash and door pulls) in in "Jaguar light blue." BTW, my F-chat handle "SpyderGT" rather than "spider" reflects that my previous car was a 2004 Maserati "spyder" - the GT version with a 6 speed stick - thus the "y" instead of the "i". What is the original color of the blue seats? Got to love "medio blu". OK, I have yet to see a Ferrari blue that I didn't like, but I'm biased. Cheers Jon
