Anyone have a Ferrari in Sydney in this colour blue ?
It's for a 365 gt2+2. Which is a big car. Thought it might lighten up the lines a bit compared to blu chiaro
that is a nice colour Anthony. It will look lovely. When does the painting occur? Please post pictures. Regards Phil
Down in Canberra PHIL. Maybe start painting in a month. Blu chiaro or blu medio metallico ? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Tony, Blu Sera Metallic works really well on a Queen Mother. I have the factory paint swabs and the Blu Medio in my opinion has too much grey in it and doesn't "pop" in sunlight the way that Sera does. You also need a deep, dark colour to flatter the simple lines of the body. Chiaro is too blue, it doesn't look "period" on a QM. This 412 is the best photo of a painted car I can find, with the paint code. http://www.ferrari-collection.net/color/index.html Ian Image Unavailable, Please Login
I spotted a QM with what appeared to be Blue Sera Metallic today and it looked fantastic. The car was heading away from StIves on Burns Road. The owner might not be on this forum but you may be able to contact them through the club to get hold of some photos.
I see that car around too, Les M I believe, but a much lighter blue than Blue Sera, more towards Azzuro Hyperion???

as you can see there is differences in photos no matter how good they are And then you have to convert that to paint and then you have to convert that to finished item Close to impossible unless you have some original sample chip to copy or another car which you like and they will give you their colour mix 10 cars that are Blu Sera will ALL look different Have a friend who did painting apprenticeship 40years ago. One of their exam tests was to all take the same paint and spray it out. All 10 same day same paint -- guess what -- 10 different results
By this, I mean do you really think Pininfarina or Scalietti painted a car in a colour on one day then same colour 2 weeks later and got the exact same result ?? Not possible
+1 Blu sera is a stunning colour. 1967 Ferrari 275 GTB/4 For Sale | Collector and Classic Cars For Sale | RK Motors Charlotte This thread popped up as well http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/308-328-sponsored-yellow-compass-group/209316-blu-chiaro-versus-blu-sera.html
+1 There is also the aspect that modern paint with a clear top coat will always look different to the period lacquer. You need a painter who will take the time to achieve the right finish. 90% of them today just want to lay it on "off the gun" and leave it thick and glossy, which is the wrong look for a 60's car. I spent days wet-sanding my QM after it came back from paint, but when it was finished, you could barely tell that it was 2 pack paint.
