Scottsdale Sport and Classis Motor Cars has a 2003 Blue 360 for sale. Has anyone done any business with these guys. They claim to perform PPI's and will not allow a potential customer to take the car to the Ferrari dealer in Scottsdale.

No independent PPI = If you say so = No.

I presume they're throwing in an iron clad warranty with this?

    Yeah thought so. Walk.

I bought an Acura NSX from them many years ago. No issues. They used to be the Lamborghini dealership until Penske took it from them. If you need a PPI, contact Andy Falbo at 480-836-7915. I should be in that area this weekend if you're a serious buyer and would like me to look at it.

I guess there must be some history, and friction, between these two outfits? They aren't saying no to an external PPI as far as I can tell, they're just saying no to FoS. I say find yourself an independent guy and get the PPI done, then you'll know whether or not to get serious with the purchase.

If they won't allow an independent PPI I'd move on and find myself another 360 -- there are plenty of them out there.

Careful with Andy, he has a GREAT reputation with everyone here on F-Chat, except ME. Based on his reputation, he must have had a bad day on my car...nuff said.

If I could not take the car to MY choice of place for the PPI, I would walk. I do admit that taking a car from one dealer to another dealer seems counterproductive, FoS could find things wrong that are really not wrong just to push you into one of their cars. I would only go to a dealer if I was buying private party and no one else was around that could be trusted for the PPI. Since Andy is right there, if they let you take it to him for the PPI.

When they see you are serious I am sure they will allow your mechanic to come and check it out. That's a beautiful car.
They are asking a mint for the car so you may have to negotiate the price first based on a favorable PPI (get this in writing).
I did this with my purchase. Put down 10% deposit and had a quick agreement written that said the negotiated price was pending favorable PPI or deposit returned in full.
If I ran the dealership this is how I would do it. I wouldn't let some unknown person take my car to another dealership...would you?
Then with the PPI thing...if you want to be thorough they may not allow (due to liability reasons) an independent mech use their lift so yo will need to work out how you are going to inspect the bottom of the car. Maybe you will need to have your indy perform cylinder compression tests (if this is important to you) out in their parking lot along with whatever else you need to do (test drive, etc) and then have the dealerships mechanic lift the car and check things like ball joints, alignment, etc. You will want the dealership to print out the SDII codes for you if they can and/or take pictures of the screens for your records. It can be a laborious process. They are representing it as a "perfect car" IMO by the steep price (is this the highest priced F1 coupe in the country?) Good luck, they are going to have to make a couple of things right to get this kind of number IMO. They will need to get the extra FOBs and Key and have that all programmed and sorted along with flashlight, tools, etc. The calipers are painted black. Was that an option from Ferrari?

The Ferrari dealer in Scottsdale does not do PPIs. If the seller will not allow an independent PPP, walk away.

Maybe I am remembering this incorrectly, but when I talked with John, the principal, he gave me the impression that he was an independent and was moving into the former Lamborghini dealership location. This was back in August 2010 when I traveled to Scottsdale to look at a 2001 TdF 360.

Great looking color combo. IMHO - I would advise them that you are a serious buyer and require an independent PPI for the purchase to take place. If they are not willing to allow that, then I would walk. If the car is solid and there is nothing to hide, then they should have no problem with it.

If that is the case, then the business appears to have changed hands.

I don't have any experience with them. Do a search here, you may find some...

That car certainly looks nice and has nice options...

over $100k for an F1 coupe is all the money and more...

If you like the car and get to a price you like, have Andy do a PPI.

I doubt they would say no to an independent PPI. If they do, then no way in hell would I buy from them.
