Guys, I'm thinking of switching my 93 Esprit for a 308/328. There's a blue 328 at a local independent dealer here in Raleigh, white interior. Car seems decent, some paintwork, haven't heard it run.

    Anyone know the car?

I assume I should take it over to Peter Krause for a once over? He does good work on my race car, and he and Rod Atkinson at his shop really seem to know Ferraris.

    Any info would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Jeff

    Jeff,

That car has been on the market for a while. I am not sure if it is because of the color or what. My advise is to drive the car over to Peter's and have him do a a PPI on the car. Peter and his guys know their stuff. Good luck with the hunt and if I can help...let me know

I actually like the color a lot. It is what attracted me to the car in the first place -- that and I've read that the 328s are just fantastic, fairly well sorted cars.

Like my Esprit a lot, but the sound of a Ferrari V8 certainly is intoxicating.

Wasn't that color combination for the European market? Thought most of the white interior cars were Euros, but might be wrong. Peter should be able to do a good workup on the car, though. He's been great dealing with my TR.

328s are great! I have owned mine for almost 6 years and it has yet to give me any real issues...it just keep on ticking. I have alomt 45k miles on it and I don't see why I can't put another 50k on her before some serious work is needed.

The key to buying these things as I am sure you know is to have it checked out before you buy. Also having records is almost as important as the inspection. Although 328s are the most reliable Ferrari I have delt with ( and I have dealt with a lot! ) they can still bite you if you don't get a well sorted and cared for car.Unless you have deep pockets there is no such thing as a bargain Ferrari fixer upper.

Please feel free to call me anytime or shoot me an email if you have any questions.

    Good Luck!

Yep, went through that with teh Lotus. Spent about 6 months finding a good one -- and the one I found was in Seattle. Actually drove it cross country.

I've had some hitches with it, but mostly related to mods I've done (the Lotus is a bit different in that the community embraces and has developed a number of non-radical performance mods). Great car, I drive it 3-4 times a week, about 8k a year.

328 will stand up to that much use?

    Jeff,

it will easily stand up to 8k per year...easily...the only thing Ferrari's with miles suffer from is the stigma and resale value of a higher mile Ferrari...they actually run better and last longer when driven on a regular basis...again...key is finding a good one!

Very true, Jeff. You will be much better off with a Ferrari that has been driven as opposed to a "garage queen" that has very low miles. By the way, I'm in Raleigh as well!!

I know that 328 well, it was mine and had it consigned to Larry at Motorcar Investments and he just sold it for me this week. I was surprised to see it show up in this forum. It is a great car, the color is a blue metallic (Chiaro) and it had a Creme and black interior which is rare. Usually it is all black but this may have been a special order. I will miss the car having had it 4 years, but I felt it was time to trade up to a 355 Spyder which I am shopping for now. I had the 328 serviced at Peter Krause's place and he even offered to buy it from me, but I was able to get a better price going through Larry (who is GREAT to work with on the buying and selling end, fantastic and a very fair individual). Sigh... I will miss the old girl, but can't wait for my new Ferrari mistress : ) I am looking for a yellow one, but I see that there is a Chiaro one for sale out there..... hmmmm.... love that color....

I looked at the 328 last night. I drove by it yesterday and noticed it sitting outside, so I figured it probably went and had a PPI done at K&E. Went tonight and it had a sold ticket in the windshield. Good luck on the 355.
