I heard it crashed this morning.....?
Huh i must be missing something, why would any supercar enthusiast be happy that a rare exotic had crashed??
The dealer that owns the car has been parading it around at all the area car shows for over a year now as a "sold" car. But for some reason, this mystery customer has never taken delivery and doesn't seem to mind the dealer putting hundreds of miles on the car. It's not that I'm happy to see the car wrecked, far from it. I'm just glad the charade is over.
right.... and yet representatives of the car at various shows have told me it's for sale and asked if anyone I know is interested. Every time I see that car in public, it has a dealer plate on it. I dare anyone to prove that's car is actually sold.
Well I actually know the owner Matt, and yes the car was sold to him, he is a very affluent individual with a great restaurant/nite club here on Long Island and from what I understand has a portfolio of properties and a Credit Card Processing Company. In fact, about 8 months ago at his club there was a fight and some jackass landed on the mirror of my Superleggera, they offered to cover the costs which wound up being approximately $6k for a carbon fiber housing and mirror. They paid with no problem. Now back to the CCX, I understand that the owner has left it with them for showcasing and consignment as well. In return I believe they have allowed him in the past to use the car on their dealer plate. (not 100% sure on those facts - that is hearsay) Now the accident and or damage to the car did in fact occur and I am sure they are not very thrilled at this moment. Would you be overjoyed?
So basically the "owner" is just an investor in the dealership. He paid for the car, but the dealer keeps it on consignment and can sell it any time. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me, but I guess people can do whatever they want with their millions. Personally, I'd prefer to have my cars in my own garage.
Here is one that was wrecked in less than a day of ownership-what is wrong with people? Image Unavailable, Please Login
To JonJon and everyone else, let me first say thank you - everyone is okay. I suppose 'crashed' is a bit of an overstatement, but yes, the CCX sustained some damage on Sunday afternoon. The wheel hit a curb and when the car went up, the carbon fiber bumper was the first thing to meet the curb. We all know what happens to carbon fiber when it breaks... Matt, I'm really taken aback by your statements and seemingly joyous stance on this situation. I can't fathom how you could extract an ounce of happiness out of knowing that such a rare and amazing car was either crashed or destroyed or simply suffered some bumper damage. It kills me to think that anyone would be happy to see something like this happen. You seem to be offended that we've shown the car so much. Is that the kind of reaction you got when you brought your Cobra all over the place promoting NYMC? To alleviate any confusion, the car is sold ...and it's for sale. As has already been mentioned in this thread, the car is privately owned. The owner keeps the car at Universal because his car collection doesn't consist of just a Koenigsegg. So his house is occupied with other cars - and the CCX stays with us. When he wants it, we're just a phone call away. The owner is a very generous person, and allows us to use his car to promote Koenigsegg and Universal Autosports. That's why we've been 'parading' the car around at various events all along the east coast for the last year. When we bring it to a car show, some people actually like to see it - go figure. We never considered that showing the car might actually offend people.
Glad to hear the most important part of all of this... that the occupants are safe and unharmed and no one else was hurt.. Thats all that matters. I hope to see it one day back on teh raod regards
Well what you don't know is that pretty much everyone I talk to about that car at shows thinks it's a big joke that "it's sold... and for sale." and yet after a year, no buyers. It comes off as both shady and overpriced at the same time. If that makes me ******, fine. I don't really care.
what is the insurance situation of a car with dealer plates? I've heard that dealer plates means liability only...
There is more than just liability on dealer plates, but to keep premiums in check, there is usually a high deductable and in some rare cases, be a cap on the payout(for the really high priced cars)
and that's why your mini is in your garage.... I don't think any dealer would ask you to lend it to them for showcasing.... I think you made yourself 'look like ******' with your arrogant statements. Think twice before posting, it's tough to retract once it is read..... Be a little more humble and not thrive on someone else's loss. These days in the midst of economic doom and gloom any loss is a considerable loss.
