The paint sticker is going to be correct, unless you have reason to believe it's not the original paint sticker (that would be odd). Paint hiding behind panels and under carpet is overspray so it won't necessarily be "finished" (thus may not appear metallic). I made the same discovery on my 308 GT4, the Verde Pino Metallizzato didn't always look "Metallizzato" behind the panels or under the carpet.

That being said, when restoring mine back to its original color, we utilized the original paint behind the door panels and the original paint swatch booklet and ended up with a perfect match. I'd look at both if you have access to a paint swatch book, it'll help you get the accurate color if you're looking to revert.

Thanks! I agree with you - but I believe that the colour code for the blue Dino met is 106 - A - 72?

Both codes are correct and sometimes inverted because the metallic colors had a lacquer so 2 codes....

Aha! Thanks! Because on the paint sticker it says; Blue Meta - which is non specific - and could work for both colors - see attached photo

I believe 133-A-6 is Blu Acapulco and it’s pretty rare. The wooden pencil guy that wrote the color down on the foil label probably didn’t care that day. He very likely did get the 133-A-6 code right. The oversprays on the car don’t always tell the color. On your dry sump, you can gently sand down a small area of the black paint on the oil cooler mount where your build number is stamped and the original blue will become evident beneath the black. Once the blue is showing, put a bit of clear on it, allow it to dry completely and then polish it. Your cars original color will be there for you to enjoy.

Many thanks Hannibal308! I have only found (in my research) one other gtb that is blue acapuIco - a US version. I have found traces of ble many different places. It seem to me that the part under the carpet - innside the luggage compartment looks very much like blue Acapulco. The other image is showing a lighter blu - but is also a part of the body where the paint haven't covered properly? I have some other indications saying that my car with build nr. 682 is a blue Acapulco.

My 78 US GTB is Blue Acapulco 133-A-6. It’s all original paint and my dad bought the car new. I didn’t know how rare it was. Where did you find the information that only one other car exists? Thanks! Josh

Hi Josh! I have only managed to find one other car, there can be more cars of course. There was also a comment about this color here at FC - mentioning that this color way super rare - and that this person had only seen one in 20 years in the US.

Josh! I have seen this film several times! Beautiful car, film and the 365 GTC is another favorite! I have been told that the color derives from Blue Ribot - a color from the 60ties. Commercially this color was named both blu Dino (metalizzato) and blu acapulco.

this is a beautifully preserved car, what a beauty!!!
Could we have the chassis number? The paint label does not mention Acapulco, does this information come from the window sticker?
