I know people who have tried to change this dot without the factory tool and almost lost an arm or an eye. DON'T DO IT. The cars with thee Greenie Stick-em caps, you can do yourself.
I hear that these tools are hard to get! I guess I just leave it on and have it changed with the next 30k inspection. Ton
I just talked to my mechanic friend, he said the blue dot turns green when your cambelts need changing. Apparently, you don't need to change them at 30,000 or 5 years, you can keep waiting until it turns green and then you need to do them within 5 miles. Doesn't seem like much warning to me... My car doesn't have a blue dot, he said that means my car doesn't ever need its belts changed disclaimer: don't believe anything
I'm refinishing my OEM 14" wheels, so I can have little or no choice of tire fitment. Goodyear Aquatread 3s I think. WHERE can I find the required blue dot?? Avery label? Post-it-notes? Or Ferrari dealer item only? Will this mean a points deduct at Cavallino Classic? What about impact on high speed handling? You nuts are making my day! LOL
My one was sill blue when I got my 17 years old 328 that never had a belt replacement. Did I really wasted my moneys in replacing them????? Ciao Eugenio
If you don't get the Ferrari factory dot, you will most assuredly get a check dot warning light. Trust me. Tubi makes a dot that may work.
I found the correct factory tool for blue dot installation or removal. It is wierd looking, not sure how to use it. On another note, the factory dot's are a total ripoff if you buy them at the dealer. I found a possible cross-reference part at: http://www.avery.com/products/add_to_cart.jsp?upc=7278206167&catalog_code=WEB01&slted=Color+Coding+Labels&pname=Labels&purl=select_category.jsp%3Fcat_code%3D5%26catalog_code%3DWEB01&pname=Identification+Labels&purl=select_prod_type.jsp%3Fitemcat_code%3D10174753%26catalog_code%3DWEB01&pname=3%2F4%22+Round+Color+Coding+Labels&purl=select_prod_style.jsp%3Fprod_type_code%3D10174812%26catalog_code%3DWEB01 But, I'm not sure if they'll turn color when the belts are due... My car has a blue hand print on the left and right fender. Is it OK to remove this print? Can someone tell this little girl to leave my car alone? Where is Luigi? Somebody tell Luigi to get over here!!! Luigi?????? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Good Avery cross reference. These are also used in other applications. I put them on my snow skis so when I come out after a looooooooong lunch break I can tell which skis are mine for the trip back down the hill. Sometimes I go down forwards, but occaisionally backwards, and some times upside down. These dots really hold up well to such a high stress environment. Speedy308 says: "I LIKE 'EM"
speedy308 found the right tool for blue handprints but the mantinence on those little buggers is expensive!!
I just took a quick look in the Ferrari 308 parts diagramm and found the blue dot (cambelto sensorare bluey dottia) part # Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hmmmmm... wonder what New Old Stock blue dots cost? i mean, those "concourse correct" guys who never drive their cars had better get on it! LOL Enjoy the Drive, Steven R. Rochlin
I have what is possibly the last NOS Blue Dot left in the world I may be willing to part with it . the dealer quoted me $1,500 on one but the were backordered until who knows when I will sell mine for the first $1700.00
You must have the older parts book only available as part of the assembly! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Well if you get it, make sure you put it on the correct spoke. It belongs on the third spoke, 22.9875769873454 mm from the centerline of the third offset axis relative to the parabolic center of the eccentric edge, near the parrot's eye, below the monkey's a$$. Wait...I got mixed up.
