A 458 is within my reach. Being that these beauties are just getting started at 70-80mph, how do you enjoy the 100+ without losing your license? In the USA, 25+ over the speed limit is considered 'wreckless driving', 6 points, and automatic tow. I realize that 'very carefully' and 'track-it' are responses, but realistically, those options can be tricky at best for most.

Laser jammers, valentine one radar detectors, keeping your eyes open, maybe a run one way with eyes wide open to run back the other........ at the end of the day, it really is just being sensible about where you do it. I've reached some heady speeds in various countries, and mostly gotten away with it, but be prepared that one day it may catch up with you. I've had a few hefty fines, and on one or two car rallies over the years, have even kept running and made the car disappear for a bit!

The important thing is to try to be safe when you attempt to use the cars abilities, don't drive like a dipstick in traffic, bad weather, the wrong type/part of the road, nowhere near pedestrians etc. I've had cops let me off for some daft speeds on occasion because I was fast but driving well (with my mum on pillion, xxx-mph in the UK, they only caught me because I slowed for roadworks on a deserted motorway (highway/freeway) on my race tuned bike - GSXR750 - the officers were pretty good that day 25 years ago, today it's probably straight to prison for that and even back then, a long ban).

Don't endanger anyone else, even if some would say you endanger yourself (many softies will try to have you believe the only safe speed is below the arbitrary speed limits set for the lowest common denominators), and if you really want to regularly do it, get some extra training to ensure that you truly are capable of using the car, keep your maintenance absolutely up to date, and make sure you check tyres and basic systems before every trip where you might use speed.

Life is too short to never take the odd chance of a little fun, but always respect your life and others if you chose to go a little 'heavy footed' now and again. Nothing beats a ferrari being driven how it was meant to be, and you will be surprised at how well they cope with some pretty extreme speeds and handling tests

If you want a Ferrari for top speed, get a Viper. ;)

There's a difference between "quick" and "fast".
Cars that corner are "quick". A motorbike is "fast".

Back when I lived in Massachusetts, I noticed that people would zoom away on the straights, but I'd be right behind them again, after they slowed to a crawl for every bend in the road.

An automobile is a machine designed to go, stop, and turn.
    Don't focus only on "go".

A Ferrari is the ultimate interface between driver and road.
    It's about handling.

(I keep muttering to myself, watching other drivers: "If you can't handle the corners, you have no business on the straights, either.")

Join the Ferrari Club and enjoy some of the greatest people in love with their cars. Go on the Track events usually once or twice a year. It will also connect you with other track events put on by other clubs, that will probably let you join them. That is a LOT of fun, with no blue light worries.

I live in MA and there have been a couple runs to cape cod this year where you have police escort. I couldn't make them but was told cops allowed them to drive as fast as they wanted.

If that were the case, wouldn't everyone just skip Ferrari and pick up a Lotus Elan or 7? ;)

The key to do this responsibly is in areas out of the city where there is little to no cross traffic, in good visibility, and with a route that one is intimately aware of. There are many roads out in the boonies where you can drive for an hour and not see another soul on the road. Be careful of animals though, and poor road conditions (see the pot holes in the photo below) they are just as dangerous.

Uh, wreckless driving is always a good thing!

Reckless driving on the other hand...
