Sounds like it could be burning oil. Not sure about the F430, but on other cars I've owned it's been attributed to bad valve seals. Just to be safe I'd bring it in to the dealer to have them check it out.

In every car I've ever owned that's a bad sign. Hope RifleDriver is around, he'll comment.

If it is indeed blue smoke it is not normal.

If it really is blue smoke it almost certainly means someone overfilled the oil. That possibility should be investigated and rectified.

It is probably steam from condensation. If so, that is normal.

Smoke lingers and has a smell. Steam dissipates very rapidly and does not smell.

Not good, not good at all. If it is truly blue and has an oily residue, you have something akin to either a minor problem to a potentially major engine disaster.

Yeppers, my 911T did the same thing but different car and reasons for the short blue poof.

Take a piece of white cardboard or metal, start the car with the metal/cardboard a few inches from the exhaust. You will be able to easily tell if it is oil.

Agreed, over filled oil will make it's way into the intake manifold and even into the mass air sensors. This has to be cleaned out....must be cleaned out.

BUT....I should have been more clear about color. Be sure it's blue before you start to freak out.

Check the oil level HOT and engine running.

I have seen brand new cars throw a puff of white smoke upon start up.

since the dry sump vent's into the throttle bodies, oil vapor could be getting sucked down into the chambers. if it's very excessive and not just at start up, it could be valve guides.

I had the same issue last week, but it was white smoke. I took my car into the dealer and they checked it out and found no issues. Likely condensation. My car has 14k miles.

Dang. I'd check those seals. Get it checked while still under warranty!
We are fortunate to be in the service area for Foreign Cars Italia. They'll get it straightened out with a minimum of pain. Perhaps the can pick your car up when they drop off my Cali!
Nice to see that you're off ban Rob!! Behave!
